Even though I already have a dress, I love to look on eBay for vintage dresses. I came across one that breaks my heart. This woman paid $800 to have her own 70’s wedding dress made into a dress for her daughter……and the daughter’s not going to wear it. The results are gorgeous and someone should give it a proper night out. It’s a size 8 and made for someone 5’3″.
After the remake:
It’s currently at $59 and the auction ends tomorrow. Here’s the link:

Very nice, but it wouldn’t fit me.

Aww that’s kinda sad. Hopefully someone buys it so all of that work wasn’t for not!

Man, that is so sad! I would just be devastated if I tore apart my wedding dress to have it altered for my daughter and then she decided she didn’t want to wear it. How sad that she is now just selling it. Unfortunately it wouldn’t come anywhere near fitting me or I might consider purchasing it as a ‘just in case my wedding dress gets too heavy at the reception’ dress. Sigh. I hope somebody scoops it up, that just makes me so sad, and it’s really very pretty.

Beautiful dress, though I would doubt they’ll let it go too cheap for how much it cost to remake ($800).

Good point Amaryllis. I guess I was just thinking of the movie 27 Dresses and what the main character’s sister did to her mom’s dress, heh. Did anyone see that movie? I feel like a total dork because I NEVER enjoy chick flicks but I watched that one and found it really cute.

pretty; wish I weren’t so tall!

beautiful dress. Wouldn’t fit me but I love the idea that it was a mother hand me down. My mom wore a mini skirt to her wedding! (it’s was the 70’s and she had the legs for it!!)

Aw, it ended at $59 with NO bids. So sad.

@veganglam, I was dragged by my chick flick-loving friends to see that movie in the theatre and I have never hated anyone in real life as much as I hated Katherine Heigel’s bratty sister when she revealed what she had done to their mom’s dress. Oh my gosh I wanted to throttle her and she wasn’t even real!

I was really hoping somebody would buy it! It’s so pretty! I wonder why the daughter didn’t want it….it’s really neat!
