Asian styles can be beautiful. But I'm not Asian and don't want an Asian theme either!
I didn''t see "asian", I saw elegant, classic with a twist? Oh crap!
i don't think it's asian, i think it's more vintage glam... i'm sure they are talking about the tie,but i wouldn't sweat it.
I wouldn't worry about it; I don't see "Asian" and I was mentally expecting to.
It's a beautiful gown! I guess they get the Asian vibe from the bow? Maybe? I wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't pointed it out. Has this person seen you in the dress or just seen the picture?
It was one of my bridesmaids and she did see me in it! There are actually kimonos with that type of bow :( oh boy. It's too late! I just hope other people don't share her opinion...
i don't think it's asian at all.. i wouldn't worry about it at all.
Phew! Thank goodness. I've been having some troubles with her anyways. She is the "debbie-downer" bridesmaid. I guess I'll chalk it up to that.
lol i was going to ask if she had "issues" lol!! well goodnight evie! have fun browsing in the hive!! it's ADDICTIVE!! lol!!
I dont think its "asian" at all. If thats only one persons opinion I wouldnt listen to it.
I don't know where that description even comes from. It looks like an American wedding dress to me.
The only 'asian' I can see in it were if it were a kimono worn backwards. And that's just plain silly. :)
As someone who lives in Asia, it's definitely not asian.
I think for something to look asian; the dress wearer would have to be asian. You are not and your dress is Awesome! Stick with it!
Asian?! Wtf! I was expecting a mandarin collar or something....whoever told you that is off their darn rocker. It's very marilyn monroe glamorous. Love it!
I think your BM is being ridiculous. It's a gorgeous gown and doesn't look asian inspired at all.
Ditto everyone, I have no idea what they were talking about with the Asian comment.
When I was loading the dress pic, I was picturing something kimono like, not a (western traditional looking) strapless satin white dress.
uh.. I'm confused.. where's the asian influence? lol This is not asian.. at all. Goregous dress, by the way!
I didn't see Asian - I saw old hollywood glam. Pull up some pictures of Veronica Lake and I'm sure you'll find a dress that looks similar!
The bow does have a little bit of an obi vibe, but I would not even come close to calling the dress "asian." I've seen plenty of wedding dresses with a similarly influenced bow.
I guess the bow could look somewhat like an obi, but it's definitely not blatantly asian looking, it's looks more Old Hollywood Glam to me, I think it's a gorgeous gown.
there are no "asian"y vibes to ur dress, so don't fret! and don't listen to debbie downer BM's!
i'm sure you'll look GORGEOUS! :D
Your gown is beautiful - I can 'kinda' see where they get the asian thing from but I was looking for it! I don't think that I would've seen it otherwise.
You have nothing to worry about you will look gorgeous in that dress and if you have no other asian elements to make it a theme no one will think that they will be to preoccupied with how elegant and beautiful you look in your dress!
I can kind of see the kimono thing but it is a beautiful vintage inspired gown! I would get it!
Beautiful. And I never would have thought Asian if you hadn't said it.
Who said that? I don't even know what 'Asian' is supposed to look like, but that isn't it regardless. Beautiful, classic, timeless.
Thanks for the support ladies! I guess I felt like a few of the other posts: I never would have originally thought that, but now she said someting, I do see an "obi"!!!! I'm trying to laugh it off....it's one of those things in planning that you could never have anticipated coming up! I'm sure you've had your share of those too!
They're nuts. There's nothing Asian about the dress. Don't worry about it.
I don't see it. The sash is vaguely obi-like, but it's a bit of a stretch. Even if it was asian-inspired, it's not a bad look to go for.
it is kind of diva-y in a good way. my fi does opera and like the name aria suggests it looks like the star of a concert in style, very dramatic and elegant.
Ya I don't see the "Asian" in it at all...she's smoking crack
