so i’m at work now and my SO just called me saying our dog tried to walk and fell down. now she can’t move, looks like her legs are paralyzed and she can’t move her head either.
she is 15 years old (which is kinda a lot for an irish setter with atelocardia) and she’s been a lil weak for the past month cos of the awful heat, but was more less active. she also lost a lot of weight lately despite eating well, but when we showed her to the vet he said “what else do u want from her, it’s age” (wtf?) the problem is that we live in a small town and there was only one vet clinic here. i called them and apparently they’re CLOSED! damn sunday!
i have no idea what to do and this is simply killing me. i’m browsing the web now searching for ANY vet (maybe, private) who would be working daily. our cat tragically died in march and i can’t imagine losing our dog as well. i cant focus on work anymore, but i cant leave either. so i’m just sitting here in tears and browsing…
not really hoping for advice, just feel terrible and needed to vent.

Do a search for an emergency vet and head there asap. Unfortunately, that’s all you can do. There is no way for us to give you advice because this is a MAJOR issue that needs to be addressed by a professional.
If you have to wait it out till tomorrow morning, I would try to keep his blood circulated by rolling him gently or moving his legs for him. Make sure he is drinking and try giving him soft food.

thank goodness, i found an emergency vet who works 24h. an appointment is in 1 hour. my SO and his father will take her there. screw work, i’ll be there too. i’m just praying now for everything to get better.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your dog and for the loss of your cat. 🙁 It does sound like your pup lived a long, happy life surrounded by love… that’s the best a dog can ever hope for! I know there is probably a huge hole in your heart, but I promise it does get better with time. Hugs.

I am so sorry, losing a pet is so hard, after 15 years… Cherish the memories. We have 2 urns for our 2 dogs in the livingroom.
