Debating a few "extra" ideas for the reception. As a guest at a wedding, would you rather have a retro soda bar (think colorful Jones sodas, root beer floats and candy sip straws) or a candy buffet, Sweet-Factory style where the candy serves as favors?

Sweetie! Im having a sweety buffet with little paper bags, scoops etc.  Generally people will want to drink at a wedding which is why I pick the sweets over the soda that way everyone can enjoy even if they want to drink.  Unless you have a T total wedding party, in which case the soda bar is great too!

I actually really like both ideas, but I have a total sweet tooth, so I voted for the candy buffet!

I love the idea of the soda bar but have a feeling most people will be drinking booze and not drink that

I'm drooling thinking about having a coke float! That's so original!

Keep in mind that you'll need ice cream for floats, and then what if soemone jsut wants ice cream? will you have bowls available? Maybe you can turn it into an ice cream sundae bar complete with candy toppings. You can have a float, or you can have candy, or you can have a sundae! It's the best of both worlds in my opinion :)

Love the idea! I think it depends on whether your guests drink alcohol (or if there are a lot of kids).  If there are a lot of non-drinkers, they would really appreciate the soda bar ... I don't drink alcohol (allergic) and I always feel left out when there is a full bar and the only thing they have for non-drinkers is coke.

But --- if mostly everyone will be drinking alcohol anyway and won't want to waste their time with soda, I would opt for the candy.

Candy buffet. I'm not a huge soda drinker plus I feel like ice cream has a very short period of time that it could be out before getting sticky and messy. A candy buffet can be out all night and guests can peruse it at any time.
