I am getting waaay too wrapped up in the various “dissolving/abusive relationship” threads that have been popping up on the boards, and need something happy to distract me. I’ve seen a lot of “what did your SO do that was nice for you this week?” threads, but I think it would be fun to write down the nice things we’ve done for our significant others recently. Seems like a good way to get into the Christmas spirit. It’ll also allow us to pat ourselves on the back for our kindness and generosity (or to get ideas for future kindnesses). So: What nice thing have you gone out of your way to do for your husband recently?
I’ll start: This is tiny, but my husband has been working very hard lately. And you have to know one thing about me: I HATE cooking. I alternate between take out and bread with peanut butter every meal if I could. But I’ve fixed every dinner for my husband this week, to support him. I know it’s not a big thing (and many of you cook for your SO’s every day), but for us, it’s out of the norm and he’s appreciated it.
Alright, now it’s your turn! Put my act of kindness to shame and restore my faith in humanity :).

I’ll play! 🙂 My Fiance has been fighting a cold for about a week and hasn’t been feeling any better. He’s had many sleepless nights and the mornings aren’t any better. To help him get some sleep and try to make him feel better I have given him massages at night using Vick’s vapor rub (neck, back, feet, and chest) this week. Thankfully, he’s been able to get some sleep and is feeling so much better!

@msfuturea: Aaw, that’s adorable! Such a wonderful act of kindness. Thanks for sharing!

I made him a blueberry cake from scratch and I hate blueberry. He loved it.

I made him a flan for him to take to his work xmas potluck. He said to just pick something up store bought but I know how much he loves my flan and loves hear compliments on it so I went ahead and made it.

We live apart, so I made sure to get to his house early on Wednesday night so that I could do all of his “chores” that he usually does after work. I took the dog for a walk, cleaned and made sure dinner was hot and ready on the table when he got back 🙂 He’s been working 7 days a week, so he’s exhausted!

I did the 12 days of Christmas for Fiance these past few days. He’s been thrilled each day and would get excited to see what was coming next. I’ve also not snooped for my Christmas presents. It’s a bad habit b/c I hate surprises. He’s happy about that. 🙂

My Fiance got back from a work trip for the holidays. He has been eating out for almost three weeks. So I made him lasagana. (I will admit, cooking for the SO, not a big deal. But it was in the middle of a busy work week and with the Christmas this week I could have been doing a a dozon other things).

I’m suffering from my period Jekyl/Hyde transformation currently. My gift to my SO this week, for the sake of the holiday season, was to contain my inner hormone monster. It’s been tough. So tough that I had an imaginary argument with him last night. Sigh. Other than that, I made him gingerbread cookies dipped in ghiradelli white chocolate and did his laundry. 🙂

I’ve been good at not snooping, too!
I also wrapped a few things for SO’s family– he was excited to hear he didn’t need to wrap them!

This is my first Christmas with my SO, his family and kids (we did a nice dinner last night) I used my Christmas money to buy his 3 kids presents, wrapped them up all pretty with my SO and took them to his parents house. He thanked me over and over again for doing it and I got tons of tackle hugs from the kids when they opened their presents even though they were nothing big and they got at least 30 gifts yesterday not including mine, lol. I love it.

I made him breakfast in bed on Christmas. That isn’t too unusual for us, so I went all out. Even sparkling grape juice in champange flutes, fresh squeeze OJ and all his favorite foods.
Also, since we agreed our christmas gifts to each other would be spending time together, our dog got him a gift certificate for a month’s worth of his favorite Friday breakfast treat. I even figured out the tax so it was for exactly 4 meals and he wouldn’t have to carrry it around with $0.50 on it.

well Christmas is a huge holiday in my family and I have never missed it. But my FI’s family lives in Georgia and he had to go to visit them. I decided to go with him to GA for a week and spend Christmas with his family so I could meet all of them and so he wouldn’t have to go alone 🙂 It was sad being away from my family, but I am glad we got to spend the holidays together, so I think that was pretty nice. I know he appreciated it a lot too.

I just spent the last 2 hours critiquing my FI’s entire wardrobe because he couldn’t pick out himself what to take on our trip to Mexico next week lol

One day, I packed him lunch – including 2 ham, cheese, lettuce sandwiches, and a freshly made salad.
Another day, I bought him a long sleeved athletic shirt…I happened upon it on a clearance rack and it had his college name on it.
Another day, I bought him toe socks because I thought it’s so weird he would never try it on his own and he’s self concious about his feet so it might be nice for him to try something different…he’s known for holey socks.
