I am thinking of trying some products from acne.org because the crap my Dermatologist has me on is NOT working. HELP!!!

Hello! I am a make up artist and saw your comment! You have plenty of time to clear up your skin. If you feel your current product is not working you can stop it and try Proactive. I have not used this product my self but saw the results on my sister and it truly works. Her skin was cleared up in about 3 weeks maybe 4. Then she didn't even need to use it consistently after. Every ones has different skin so this may not work for you. So here are some tips to help. Wash your face regularly and especially before bed. Keep sheets and pillow shams clean also. Avoid touching your face unless it is to apply make up or wash it. I hope you find some thing that works for you! Best of luck!

I used to have really bad skin, and a combo of Retin-a and benzoyl peroxide really helped.  I think different things work for different people, though.  Retin-a didn't work for my brother-antibiotics worked better for him.

I don't really like Proactiv actually.  It really messed up my skin and was painful.  I have been using Origins for a few weeks now and I really love it!

I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING. Retin-a, antibiotics, Murad, I haven't tried Proactiv, and I don't plan to because I have known a lot of people who have used it and it dries the living crap out of their skin. I wash my face twice a day and I RARELY even use makeup (I think the last time I wore makeup was a year ago). I'm just at a loss. I guess I shouldn't say nothing worked because the antibiotics worked, they just have HORRIBLE side effects for unborn children and I can't live with that. My derm just gave me another med to try and I am skeptical. I don't really want to try it.

Yea I would put in another word for Origins.  It's great and very gentle, I have a completely clear face now!  Don't know your skin type, but they have all different types of cleansers that you can use.  One thing I'd really recommend though is the Out of Trouble mask  http://www.origins.com/templates/products/sp_nonshaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY5812&PRODUCT_ID=PROD52  I do it once a week for 10 minutes, and it really helps zap any zits, dry up the oil and gives a smooth texture.  It's not extremely drying though like Proactiv.  Proactiv was really pretty harsh, it worked for me initially but after a while it just stopped working.  And they kept sending me new packages and billing me before the other package even ran out.

I've also been taking a multi vitamin (pre natal vitamins work great, they also have ones specifically for hair/skin/nails) along with an extra 50mg of zinc.  I take the zinc in the morning and the multi vitamin at night.  You need to take them separately so you can absorb them. You can also take fish oil pills, but I have a hard time swallowing big pills and the actual fish oil tastes NASTY.  But if you can manage it, it is great for your skin.

I also wash my pillowcases twice a week now and wipe my cell phone down with antibacterial wipes every day.  And pull my hair away from my face with a soft headband at night.  It's little things like that that seem to help too.  I definitely had a line of acne where my cellphone pressed against my face....haha.

The clarisonic brush helps me, as well as Retin-A. You can read my posts about my skin and the products I use on my blog here http://dressfloozy.blogspot.com/2010/04/celebrity-skin.html

There's two posts so check them both out!

i've never had amazing skin, but it was always pretty good until i went off the pill last year b/c it wasn't jiving with my body emotionally.  i broke out so bad it was awful!  i started using benzoyl peroxide in the a.m. and retinol products in the p.m. and it has really helped!  just make sure to give yourself enough time  b/c clearing up acne takes time and your face will get worse before it gets better :(

my face started to clear up after about 2-3mo!

    good luck!

I had horible skin so I started trying a bunch of different products out in January and my face now looks better than it has in a long time.  In the morning I'm using an acne facial cleanser (Neutrogena)  and the oil of olay 7-in one moisturizer (this stuff is AMAZING and is helping to get rid of some old scarring/brown spots) and at night I'm using a Clarisonic with a gentle soap (Dove) and the same moisturizer.  I went through a period of adjustment but now, after about two months of the same regimen, my skin is finally clear.  One thing I would say is that I had a horrible reaction to a really fancy skin care regimen that had scented products--I literally got a rash on my face.  I would highly recommend all of the products I'm using now and except for the clarisonic, all are relatively inexpensive and available at the drug store.

Cetaphil has been my life saver. I never had problems with my skin until moving here, and once I started Cetaphil twice a day as well as St. Ive's Aprict Scrub every other day, it cleared up my skin!!

Murad is working for me.  The Resurgence line is for hormonial skin (I have adult acne so it's for my skin type).
