My SO is a morning person, wakes up whistling, and loves to jump on the bed to get me to rise.
Me? I need a hour of space before I’m truly up and about. Please don’t ask questions, just leave me be. I am not, NOT a morning person. *tag, your it*

Food preferences! I would consider myself a blooming foodie: I’m up to try anything, the more unique and flavorful, the better! Bring the spices, veggies, etc. on! I especially like healthier foods, and since I’m gluten-intolerant don’t eat flour products. I tease Batman because he ONLY eats beige/brown foods (or at least, that’s what it feels like to me): he’s one of the world’s pickiest eaters! He’ll eat things in the grain, meat, and dairy food groups and loves seafood but hates all veggies and fruit (I could LIVE on fruit!!). He also hates anything spicy (or, in my view, anything flavorful :P). Oh well, more for me!!

I have to go with food as well. If FH had his way, he would still be cooking daily with his “Fry Daddy”. I put an end to that right quick. But he HATES beans (I love ’em) and veggies. Sigh! Also sleep preferences. I like the woindows open in warm weather, he wants the AC on. I like a cool bedroom and he likes the heater on full blast. I now sleep in the guest bedroom and we love to visit each other’s tepees, if you get my drift!
Yikes! And I almost forgot music! He LOVES heavy metal – I am a 90s grunge gal and I like trance too.

@Araya: We are like this, too. Except reverse it. Took me a long time to accept that he just needs more sleep than me!

Lol I am NOT a morning person either, if it’s before 10am you wake me at your own risk he is good to go by 8, but my SO’s biggest difference is he’s a pessimist and I’m an annoying optomist. We butt heads from time to time but it always works out.

I’m a recovering neat-freak. Hubs, lovely man that he is….is….not. And that’s an understatement. I sometimes sadly reflect on the state of our bedroom floor (aka laundry hamper), office floor (aka laundry hamper), office desk (aka crap catch-all). I am slowly having the neat-freak sucked out of me because it’s just not worth the fight.

@Araya: We’re the opposite, I like to get up early and he’s a big grump in the morning. I kinda like my me-time on a weekend morning though so it works out.
Lots of foods I love and he hates. Tomatoes, blueberries, cream cheese…

It would be easier to list the things we like the same. He needs an hour to wake up, I need five minutes. He likes salty and sweet food together, I don’t. He would prefer to hear a band live, I want the album version. He would rate a movie 5 stars on Netflix, and I’d give it 2. I love cats, he hates them [allergic]. The list goes on and on. We laugh a lot about how opposite we are, but, for some reason, it works.

I love trying new things, whether it is food, or going on different adventures. DH hates trying new kinds of food, and refuses to do anything that he thinks has any risk involved.

Extrovert vs. Introvert. We are both just about 100% one way or another. I thrive off of social interaction, parties, texting, phone calls, going out in public, dinners. He needs to shut himself up in his room with his textbooks or a video game. Hasn’t caused any issues though, since I have plenty of other friends and will even hang out with his roommates if FI needs alone time to recharge.

His sense of direction is the best!! Me, without 3 different sets of directions, I get lost instantly.

Fun idea for a thread! 🙂
I’m a chatty Kathy and SO is really shy!
Also, SO is definitely more gifted in the left-brain (logical, organized, critical thinking), and I’m a right-brain (expressive, creative, artsy) 100%.

Name brand “things” as he calls them.
I love to splurge on bags, shoes, and jeans. He hates it.
Also, he is very artsy and good with music. I suck at both.

I can see the positive side in anything (as long as there really is a positive side… I don’t just make them up… not delusional or anything) and DH can always find the negative side in anything. Sometimes, it’s exhausting.

Movies and tv shows. We agree on like a handful, but that’s about it.
We also are opposites on a lot of family type things.
