Some months back on March 3, 2013, a friend of ours (fiance’ and I) was beaten and left for dead. Beaten severely about the head, resulting in an axonal brain injury. He was in a coma for a month. My fiance’ and I were out with him earlier that same evening, so as you can imagine it was devistating to hear of his near fatal condition. To complicate matters, I live in an area where there is not a whole lot people who mind their business. Due to the fact that I worked with said friend, surely it must have been my fiance’ who inflicted these injuries upon our friend, in a jealous rage. It was terribly upsetting, I didn’t care about people and their silly inuendo’s, I was just sick over my friend who could have died at any time. We had police interrogations, and after meeting with the police, and having our story checked into……they finally believed that we were not involved.
Fast forward to today. 5 months later. We met with our friend this evening. I am truly in awe and truly moved by God’s ability to heal our bodies, more importantly our hearts and our minds. While I never could force myself to accept that I would see my friend as anything less than the person I knew, I also knew the medical prognosis. 9 of 10 patients with this type of injury never wake up from the coma. The remaining 1 out of 10 are generally left with deficits. I could not believe my eyes, aside from some minor tooth damage, and being a little bit slow to converse. My friend, our friend was about 99% the person he was that fateful night. I am just numb, and in quiet reflection.
I am moved tonight at the awesome power of prayer. And am very thankful that God answered this prayer. I witnessed a miracle, and tonight I am certain there is something much larger than each of us. Wow, just truly miraculous!
