Sometimes I just have to click the "unfollow" button (FB rant)

People don’t seem to understand the difference between content you have to click a link to see (so it’s your fault if you click on something you shouldn’t) versus content that just pops up right in your face. Facebook news feed is the second type. You click on Facebook to look at pictures of your friends’ kids, not to see effed up horrible things. I had a Facebook friend that kept posting the pictures from the Boston marathon bombing — either the victims of the bombing itself, or the mangled corpse of the first bomber. I’m like, why does this belong on Facebook where people who are just idly scrolling through during their lunch hour are going to be forced to look at it?!?! Unfollowed that mofo in a hurry.

A girl I’m friends with posted a picture of her and her SO holding their baby. I was like, “cute family photo!” and opened it, but the full picture showed that the baby was just COVERED in diarrhea. Like I really wanted to see your kid’s disgusting diarrhea on FB.

Had to unfriend a girl who kept posting horrible pictures of abused animals.  It’s like those ASPCA commercials that I always have to change the channel on because they upset me so much.  There are better ways to save the animals than ruining everyone’s day.

Yeah… some of my DH’s older family members like to post a lot of those “Let’s find these sickos” posts. The latest one was of a mother beating her infant with a pillow and cellphone. I get that this video exists and someone wants to bring this woman to justice, but man, it is not something I feel comfortable witnessing! Just too graphic for Facebook.

@okqueenbee:  My first thought was like wow instead of cleaning the diarrhea off of your child you first stopped for a photo op. The first picture just lead to like an album of 5-10 pics of the poopy baby. Poor thing!

@Dizbee:  YES. I hate these ones too. Donate to animal charities, but don’t plaster my newsfeed with it. I just end up hiding those people.

@okqueenbee:  considering how many of those videos just start playing on their own, I’d be willing to bet that plenty of people who are either friends with the original poster or friends with your friend probably got stuck watching the video completely by accident!! Blech.

I unfollow people who post about their workouts or check into the gym. Seriously? Does it not count or something unless it is FB official? So annoying and I really don’t care that you ran 3.4578 miles in 27:48:23. Stop.

You know what would be fun, though? To punish all the people who post crap like that by, like, rickrolling them with 2 Girls 1 Cup or the worst of the worst torture moments in some f*cked up movies. “Hey, check out this adorable video of my baby rolling over HAHA JUST KIDDING IT’S A VIDEO OF A PERSON EATING ANOTHER PERSON’S POOP HAHAHA.”
