You’re totally in the right, especially when telling her you’re on your lunch.  I could understand someone not realizing you were and asking you to do something, but to continue asking you is out of line.

I think you handled it well and don’t worry about her talking about you… everyone knows they don’t want to work over their lunch and secretly admire you for just saying so instead of getting walked over.

I agree that you should be entitled to a full lunch! I have worked in places though were that wasn’t really the case. Working while on lunch is really common.

I don’t find you at fault for this, but the problem may be the location where you are sitting. I don’t know about desk set up where you are, but if you are eating in a work environment the people around you may expect you to work regardless of you being on a break. An attitude of “Your in your work area, you should be working!”

Can you find a different place to eat that’s not crowded? I know you are working on wedding stuff, but do you have a laptop you can bring?

People SUCK! You handled it in a much nicer way than I would have! LOL

Im actually not allowed to eat at my desk for this exact reason and probably more.

Hope she got the clue!

@Tswife4ever: Yeah, her attitude was crap and I think you were right to put your foot down. You’ll get more out of your lunch break if you don’t have to deal with telling everyone off so you can eat in peace though! 🙂
