My fiance and I are thinking about eloping instead of the whole sha-bang. The only problem is that we are both very, very particular (picky). We have narrowed it down to three places we may be willing to run off to, those being:
3. Las Vegas. This is where we live and would be the easiest for us, as well as cost-effective. We, however, do not want the typical elopement at a chapel on the strip.
Do any bees know of any places that cater to elopements? Additionally, we want it to be somewhere very beautiful. I am at a loss as to where to do it.

@1313Mockingbird: I agree! Big Sur is supposedly amazingly beautiful.
Also, Santa Barbara, Ca. San Diego, Ca. Monterey, Ca. are all pretty! Morro Bay maybe?

Mendocino and surrounding areas
There are lots of little inns, bed & breakfasts, hotels, venues, wedding planners, etc in CA that do elopement packages. Good luck!

I agree with PP’s Big Sur is gorgeous. But it really depends on whether you want, snow, forest, beach, desert, etc.

@Ellegee: FI’s family has a house on Orcas right on the water. LOVE!

I vote Lake Tahoe, but I’m biased, as that’s where we got married. 🙂 But there are a lot of beautiful options for elopement there, and it’s a short flight from Vegas to Reno!

@theseautumneyes: FWIW, there have been some gorgeous elopements in Vegas here on the bee 🙂 You could even find a hotel to stay in to make it extra special, although I understand that you might want to travel. I don’t really have any suggestions b/c I’m east coast. I just wanted to say that I saw your other post about your guest list and I had a similar situation. I’m now eloping with just my Fiance and my best friend and her Fiance and I’m so excited I can barely stand it! It does get sad sometimes but I think it will be so much more special to me. Good luck! 🙂

Santa Catalina Island is gorgeous. Avalon has a little bit of everything; rugged mountains, rolling hills, beautiful beaches, crystal blue water, and amazing views. It’s small, quaint, everyone drives golf carts, and perfect for a lover’s getaway. It’s not called the “Island of Romance” for nothing!

My husband and I eloped in Estes Park, CO. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!! We concidered some of the same places as you but I am SO glad we decided on CO. It was peaceful and very intimate. If your interested, feel free to write me and I will give you the contact info of the elopement company we used. Below are a couple of our pics.
