Just an outside thought, it doesn't have to be in 3rd person, unless you prefer it that way. Your friend is singing a song for you guys, not to you...unless I've misunderstood and it is to you?
I don't think it wouldn't sound odd to have him or her sing a love song b/c it's about your special day, not how he or she feels towards you both. If it is a song that your friend is singing to you, maybe let the decision be up to them. That way your friend is singing what he or she truly feels about you as a couple. If it isn't to you, then it can be anything in the world you want...a few suggestions:
-heard a really beautiful and slow version of Queen's "Best Friend".. I know this sounds odd, but it was beautiful!!:)..Van Morrison's "Crazy Love", Bryan Adams "Heaven" (forget for a moment I just said Bryan Adams, this song is the jam;), The Mamas & the Papas "Dream a Little Dream", The Beatles "I Will", The Beatles "In My Life", Dean Martin "Memories are made of This", The Cure "Love Song"....hope this helps

We've asked a friend with a nice voice to sing a solo at our ceremony. I'm stuck on what she could sing, though. Most love songs are all "I'm so in love with you...," which doesn't make sense coming from a friend! Any suggestions for good third-person songs? The only thing I can think of now is All You Need is Love, but that's almost become a wedding cliche at this point. We like classic rock as well as more modern/ alternative. And we'd prefer something non-religious.
