- Wedding: June 2014
Our wedding reception is going to be a casual backyard-style party (except it will be in a national forest!) and I’m not planning on having any dancing (no space, and the people coming aren’t really the dancing type).
I’m still definitely having music playing for the duration of the party–about 4 hours–but I’m having a really hard time coming up with song suggestions. My fiance mostly likes classic rock (think the Beatles, Creedence, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin), which I like too. My favorite kind of music is… for lack of a better phrase… sad hipster music, haha (like Mumford & Sons, Bright Eyes, the Lumineers, Radiohead, the Shins, the Postal Service, Fleet Foxes, Neutral Milk Hotel)… I’m a lot more flexible than he is, and also like lots of Top 40 stuff, etc. Obviously there are some more cheerful or happy songs in there, but it’s mostly… not. I’m having a really hard time coming up with 4 hours worth of my favorite songs that are still going to be “happy” enough for the event!
So, if you’re putting together your own wedding playlist (or you already did…) what do you consider the “must-have” songs? Thanks for your help!
