hey bees. So FH’s grooms men live across the country and will be flying in just before the wedding. My bridesmaids are actually FH’s long time best (girl)friends whom I’ve become close with. He’s been down about the wedding due to family issues, so I want to cheer him up. BM’s and I have decided to throw him a surprise bachelor party.
Nothing crazy, we all planned on going out to a bar next weekend anyway. We figured we would tell all his buddies to meet us at a certain bar at 9pm and surprise him. Before we go out, we’ll swing by BM’s house to ‘pick her up’ where we’ll have inappropriate cupcakes and something silly to surprise him with.
He and his friends aren’t really typical ‘bachelor party’ kind of people. So basically we want to do a quick surprise cake/something funny at BM’s house, then go hang out with friends. Any ideas on what we can do to make it more ‘bachelor party appropriate’ without going over the top and annoying everyone involved?

Were his male friends not planning on throwing him a party?

@whoa_its_ash: his close friends all live across the country. So his girlfriends and I are planning something cheesy and fun. We will invite his casual guy friends, but its no one we would expect to host

I think that’s really sweet of you to want to cheer him up 🙂
I think, the best way to make it more bachelor-ish is to get ride of the females.
In my opinion, that’s what makes it a Bachelor party, not the activities.
Maybe you can rent him a hotel room and let the guys be guys. Give them some money to cover his expenses or something.

@Anna10-05-2014: +1, I’d have to agree. This sounds more like a stag and doe as opposed to a bachelor party.
@krex: What about tickets to a sporting event? You mentioned he isn’t a bachelor party type person so I am not about to suggest strippers! But there are a lot of cool guy friendly things you could do…sporting event, tour a brewery, race some go karts, paintball, etc. If you paid for it (or at least paid his way) that would be even better!
