I’ve been lurking for a few months and now I finally have something worth posting! Sorry if this is long, im just really excited!
My SO and I have quite the historstand everything feels like its finally coming along.
backstory: I have had a crush on my boyfriend for 14 years. I am 28 at the end of the month and he is 31. We grew up in the same small town and he is actually my Step Dads younger brothers best friend. We worked together at a small bakery as teens. I had such a crush on him but he was dating another girl who worked with us, boo. 3 years later when I was 17 we finally got more involved on a romantic level but we were kids, he was already in college and I was leaving for College so nothing ever transpired.
about 6 or so years past and we somehow reconnect via FB. I am living in Boston where I went to school and he is living in the city next to the town we grew up in 40 minutes away. We get to a point where we are visiting each other. He is not the best at communicating his feelings and I assumed we were casual, so when I met a guy who wanted to be in actual relationship with me, I stopped seeing my SO.
That relationship ended horridly and one day I randomly started talking to my SO again and we started hanging out again just as friends. Then one day it all clicked for me. I was really sick and he came over to take care of me and I realized he was the love of my life. It was a long road after that. Turns out he had been in love with me since I was 14 but ditching him for another guy left him with some trust issues.
We made it through and have been solidly and exclusively dating for the past two and a half years. We been that been talking marriage for a few months now but it wasn’t until last Friday that things started to really progress. We woke up and he made me breakfast (something he never does) and then accounted that I needed to get dressed because we were going to the Jewlers Building in downtown Boston to look at rings!
we weto into about 4 different jewlers and I tried on ring after ring, I felt like a princess having black boxes taken out for me to try on. I ended narrowing down the style of ring I want but did not end up picking out a specific ring because I still want to be surprised by him and gifted with his choice. I still don’t know if he has or when he will order the ring or when he will actually propose but it’s very excited knowing he is serious about marrying me and has a very solid idea of what I would want for a ring.
i should mention I am a but of a Type A personality and am not the biggest fan of surprises/things I have no control of so while some may not think going ring shopping with your Future Fiancé is romantic or knowing you are to become engaged, it’s absolutely perfect for me.
thank you for letting me share!!!
