Ugh, that really bites! It's a shame they didn't let you know beforehand.
You should list it on the classifieds! I bet some bride would really appreciate it!
Awww that sucks! Can't you get some nice letterpress STDs or Thank You cards for $500? That seems like a lot of money... surely they can help you with getting SOMETHING for your wedding. How much is this company charging for paper goods?
I'm waiting to hear back from the company to see if they will let me transfer the gift certificate. Unfortunately you can only get invites or STDs (and I already did the latter). 100 letterpress invites plus RSVP cards are like $1300!! Even with $500 off, it's still $800 which is WAY more than I can afford on invites. I was planning to spend less than $500 on them, preferably closer to $300.
Thanks for the support, ladies! It's nice to have the boards to vent on so my fiance doesn't have to listen to me go on and on about weddings ad nauseam. :)
I'm so sorry. I hate stuff like that!
I'm sure someone will be interested in the certificate if the company will not exchange/transfer it.
((HUGS))
Daaaaaaaang that's a LOT of money for invitations!
I'd rather go on a vacation, LOL
Ugh, sorry to hear that. It seems like most "deals" in the bridal world are usually too good to be true :(
Thats terrible... who really would spend $1500 on invites??? people just toss them in the garbage!!!! Im gonna DIY my invites!! They should have mentioned how expensive they are!!
Whoa... now, if they didn't tell you beforehand, I think you have a good argument for using the $500 towards anything at Delphine press. I'm so sorry!
Unfortunately the company doesn't sell thank you cards individually - you have to order them in conjunction with either invites or STDs. I don't think I really have a case to complain because it was a prize, not something I bought... but it still sucks because I was SO ecstatic when I won, thinking that I could use that $500 towards something else. I agree with mallorynjmf, it is a ton of money to spend on invites that people just throw away!
I have no idea how they're staying in business, that is an outrageous amount of money for invitations. I'm getting 75 letterpress invitations, reception cards, and rsvp's for less than $300 bucks and the girl is such a doll. She will also let you keep the letterpress plates as a keepsake. PM me if you want her information.
Thanks so much for the offers to help! I will definitely PM some of you to see what my other options are.
Just an update for those who are interested - after the vendor (delphine) told me that I could transfer the certificate, Martha Stewart Weddings contacted me and told me I couldn't and that if I didn't use it, they'd give it to someone else! I am waiting to hear back from them after I said that delphine told me it was okay... I bet they won't let me.
I'm sorry to hear you've been frustrated- I won the same thing and Delphine has been really great working with me within my budget. I would call and talk to them about what you're looking for; I've had a great experience with them.
Can you just get $500 worth of invites? All of your invites don't really have to be the same. You could do half letterpress (or 1/3 or whatever) and then the other half of them you could order from someone else or DIY. It would still be half the money and half the work taken care of for free. It may seem crazy but you could send the letterpress invites to one side of the family and the others to the other side so no one would ever compare them.
I hope that made sense!

So I won $500 towards invitations from Delphine (via the Martha Stewart Online Wedding Expo a couple weekends ago)... but I just received the email certificate today and it's only good on letterpress invites, which are SO FAR outside my budget, it's not even funny. I could cry, it's so disappointing! I was so looking forward to having one part of the wedding be easy and FREE, and it turns out it was pretty much a gimmick. Why would they do that? Obviously they want the business but I would be more likely to order from them again if I didn't feel a little duped.
Sigh.
Was anyone planning to order letterpress that would like to purchase this gift certificate? They really do have gorgeous designs, and the gift certificate is good towards either invites OR save the dates (which are a bit cheaper).
