    We are gearing up to buy land on an island!!! It is a community very near where I work and is accessible by boat and by golf cart only. We will have a water view and a 21' pier to build a boat lift.  It is located directly on a canal and is gorgeous!!! The back of the land is wetlands so it will never have any development on it. The lots are bank owned and less than 1/2 of what they are selling for by other owners!!! Keep your fingers crossed.  We should have the land contract signed tomorrow.  We will probably build a home on the land but haven't decided if it will be a vacation home or our full-time home.  It may start out as a full-time home and then transfer over to the vacation home.

    My hubby and I are SOOOO excited to be able to get the land for less than we would pay for a car!

    @JamaicaBride: The fact that my commute  is cust down from 40 minutes to about 8 trumps everything else lol!!!! I literally am driving about 100 miles a day after my route is done.  It is ridonk (in the words of 50 aka scissors)

    @MissAsB:  We pretty much have it. I am waiting until tomorrow to sign the contract and I am going to pick the lot on Sunday.  It is on the bluff there.

    @rachaelrobin: Thanks girlie!!!

    I'm soooo flipping excited and nervous.  Since it is bank owned I may not be able to low ball it (my first inclination is to go low).  But they just went down about 2500 on it since November so I am figuring they just want to get rid of it.  Part of me thinks that a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush so maybe I can low ball it?

    Does anyone have any experience with this at all?  The land is for sale for 4000 which is a great deal, but hey I'd rather have a fantastic deal you know?

    I was thinking to go in at 2800 plus closing?  And then accept their counter as long as the base price is less than the 4k, we will probably just pay cash for the land.

    OMG, YaY.  I love our vacation home and can't wait to build our house on our land that we bought, so I know the excitement.  Can't wait to hear what you all decide on.  Keep us posted.

    @texasmeredith: thanks girlie!!

    @tksjewelry: the funny thing is we don't know what we'll be doing with the land.  if we build (house or cabin) it will be next year so we'll just be holding on to the land until then, saving money etc.

    I am just incredibly excited.  My hubby is away working and will be gone for the month :(.  He is only about 2 hours away but is working 7 days a week with 12 hour shifts :( and I am still working about 6 days a week.  Luckily I had two days off this week but of course during the school week and not in a row so we aren't able to visit.  He is sort of letting me spear head the land selection which is nerve wrecking.

    cola: thanks girlie!!
