Hi! I have ordered a Sophia Tolli dress for my wedding in a UK size 10, I am normally a size 8 in dresses because I have a small waist but because my dress is fitted over my hips I ordered a 10. It came in and is MASSIVE on me I always knew I would need it taking in at the bust and waist but I need about 4 inches off the hips too. I would say if you are worried about it being too small I dont think you have anything to worry about, I think the sizing is very generous. 🙂

hey i just had my first fitting – sophia tolli marigold, and my measurements were dress size 2 bust, 4 waist, 2 hips.. i ordered a 2 and it was TIGHT as in took me 5 minutes to learn to breathe tight haha. So I wouldnt know if they are all big fitting. My street size is an 8… but the store advised me to order a 2 because its ?american sizing? x

Edooler87:  Marigold is my dress too! Good choice :). I think my dress shop ordered me the wrong size somehow, cause I have looked at the sizing chart and my measurements were bust: 2, waist: 4, hips: inbetween 6/8 and they ordered me a size 10 dress. Very annoying as I have to have it taken in by so much I am worried it will ruin it!

I thought it was Australian sizing which is the same as UK? Might be wrong though!

haha my first dress twin! I am surprised they ordered a 10 but i guess we have to trust these people! where in the country are you? All i know is it isnt british sizing as I tried on an 8 in the store and it swamped me… the size 2 I have is perfect up top, but tight over waist certainly. when is your first fitting?

I’m a UK size 8. I ordered a size 6, and the fit is very good. Because it’s a corset, I think I could’ve gotten away with ordering a 4

scratch that I see it is Sunday, I was thinking that maybe theyve ordered a uk size 10, and that would be smaller in australia, but iv just googled it and the sizing is the same over there? pretty confused now :/. I would see what it feels like on, and then check the stores ordering policy see if they have anything about them ordering wrong size and having to replace it maybe? seems odd they ordered a 10! x

You shouldn’t worry too much, when your measurements are taken they are then worked out against a chart, there is pretty much always a difference and that’s why fittings are essential! For example a girl with large hips and a tiny wait might have to order a 12 when she measures closer to an 8 everywhere else, it’s so much easier to take a dress in than out!

The only dress that i would be concerned about is Bellabamba’s … I’d check that the shop still have your original measurements.  If your measurements are correct then the 8 should have been the largest size ordered, but possibly the 6 if the difference between the two sizes wasn’t vast.
