I stuck to halls, and children’s Tylenol. The Tylenol really was a life savor…. It was summer when I got sick and literally felt like I was dying of a sore throat

You don’t need to pay for children’s tylenol. Save yourself a buck and take a regular, not extra strength. Suck on all the lozenges you want. The amount of alcohol in a lozenge is not going to affect your baby. Stay away from NSAIDS, which is ibuprofen/advil/motrin and aleve. No aspirin. The throat coat teas are nice, too! Also, wash your hands. Constantly. Get yourself some hand sanitizer if you find that you get sick when you’re around a lot of people.

newbabybee:  The amount of alcohol in(most) a throat lozenge is negligent- and if it would make your throat feel better, I’d use one.

You can try honey- I’ve done the salt water thing before and it really agitated my throat quite a bit….but everyone is different.

Even sucking on something like a jolly rancher might help.

Drink lots of tea if you find the hot liquid feels nice, or eat popcicles if cold feels better! I do both when I’m sick because I find medication usually doesn’t help me much.

newbabybee:  you can try chicken soup because it’s actually been proven that chicken soup relieves symptoms of flu and common cold. Also chamomille tea helps. The other thing that definitely helps is this: mix some honey in freshly squeezed lemon juice and just drink it with a spoon. You will be pleasantly surprised. The honey coats your throat and it really helps.
