I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and well wishes for my engagement (even if things did become a little vicious in that one thread). I've realized that maybe posting things about myself on the boards is not exactly where I want to be. It's crazy to think that after being with someone for so long, I had hoped that I, like most of the women on this site, would get that surprise question someday. I guess I've finally realized that if it happens it happens, if not, it's not the end of the world and life will go on. Ultimately, I know that the man that I am with now will be the one man that I spend the rest of my life with, regardless of whether or not we get married. He and I both know it. I can honestly say that my life would be incomplete without him.
I just wanted to say that I sincerely hope that all of you find (or have found) the one person you know you can spend the rest of your life with regardless of whether or not marriage is in the cards. Life is complicated and strong relationships can overcome the hurdles that it gives you and I'd like to think that marriage ultimately isn't really going to change a strong relationship.

for all you waiting to hear: i just wanted to let you all know that i did in fact get engaged tonight! he was very sneaky and it was perfect for us. even though i knew he was supposed to ask today, i honestly had NO idea he would ask when he did. it definitely happened at the very last moment i would have ever guessed! thanks so much everyone for all your support. what's funny is that my leaving the WB actually set the moment for the engagement to happen, so it happened even better than he could have planned.
i'm very happy, but i am very contemplative still and i do need a little time away from the wedding boards. i'll be back now as soon as i feel better about everything. i promise and you can bet i'll be here cheering all of you waiting bees on! (regardless of what any grumpy ladies have to say!)

Congratulations. I am so sorry that it was tainted by some negative energy... but obviously something wonderful and beautiful came from it.
I really hope today leads people to be a little kinder to each other.

Congrats!!! Thanks for filling us in. Good luck with all your planning and sorry your board was used for negativity. I agree with what you said about not needing a ring or a marriage to have a life long promise but a wedding is a great way to celebrate that life long promise.

Congratz Iggies!! Wish you all the best! I've read all the threads and didn't get a chance to comment, but I am in full support of you and all of the other waiting bees. We were ALL once "waiting", heck I waited for years and I was so edgy and excited throughout that waiting period. Getting the ring doesn't put any of us "above" ladies who don't have a ring yet. Just like being in a relationship doesn't put us "above" single ladies. Can't we all just get along? :) Take care Iggies, come back soon to share your engagement deets :)
