My silhouette is knee-length.  I guess it’s cut a-line but it’s got soft pleats so it falls closer in.

In longer dresses, I like slim a-lines and not-too-dramatic mermaid or fit and flare styles.  I’ve seen ballgowns that are fabulous, but they’re really not my style.  I tend to like less fabric and less fuss, but then again I tend to walk around in gym clothes most of the time.

I can’t answer both those questions in a single poll!

On other brides, I am drawn to fit and flare styles, and for that reason it is what I thought I wanted. But after trying so many on, I have discovered consistently that I like the way I look in dropped waist dresses best. But I definitely would not say that is my overall favorite, and I definitely would not recommend it to every bride! I also like A-lines because it can pretty much do no wrong — I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone look bad in one.

My dress borders on A-line/natural waist ballgown.. I guess you could call it a full A-line.

When I was originally looking for dresses, I didn’t want a fuller skirt at all. I loved the fit&flare/trumpet/mermaid look. I still love them now, and loved how they looked on me, but I fell in love with a dress that was completely different from what I thought I wanted.

I’m not a big fan of really poofy, Cinderella-type gowns.

I have a big poofy ball gown and I LOVE IT! I thought I wanted an A-line but it felt flat and not as fun as the ballgown, I’m happy with my choice =)

I had a drop-waist ballgown.  It wasn’t what I was really looking for, but it was too gorgeous of a dress at too great of a price to pass up.  I did love my big, poufy skirt since when else are you going to wear one?

As far as other silhouettes are concerned, I like them all it just depends on who is wearing them.

@tntrav44: Such are the pitfalls of research. 😉

I still like to read everyone’s answers, though!

    Hm..I think mine’s a mix between a-line and fit&flare..because it’s tight on my booty, but it doesn’t flare out a ton…

I like looking at the fit n flare / mermaid gowns and thought when I first started shopping that is what I would wind up in.  NOW I have learned that natural waisted ball gowns / full A lines look best on me and I consequently love them.  🙂  My dress could probably be considered a full A line but I think of it as a ball gown.

lol, I WAS going to get something simple/sexy (empire or fitted)

but, when I found out my Fiance saw me in a ballgown I was in shock (It was something I wanted when I was a kid, but seriously?) …and I totally went that route! lol, I wanted to please him and it turned out he made my childhood dream come true. I love how it feels!!
