We are planning on taking pictures before the ceremony and providing transporation for our bridal party to the venue. Some of the people in our bridal party have SOs and were talking about bringing them with them as we arrive at the venue. We are arriving at the venue at noon and the ceremony doesn’t start until 4:30 PM. I think it my be awkward to have them following us around while we are taking pictures.
Not sure how to handle this situation. If anyone else is in this boat please let me know what you did or how you plan on handling this. I think 4 1/2 hours is pretty long for them to wait around doing nothing.
Thanks for all your help!

I find it a rather unusual request. Are these SOs travelling? Because otherwise I can’t understand the appeal of using up a whole afternoon following you around for 4 1/2 hours. Also, is the entire time for photos? It’d be pretty unusual to have SOs present during the getting dressed / getting ready time. Part of the “cost” of being a bridesmaid (or groomsman) is you spend the a lot of day getting ready with the bride (or groom). But if the whole 4 1/2 hours is photos, maybe the bridesmaids are thinking they’ll be spending a lot of the time idle, watching you and your husband getting photographed.
So what I’m saying is it’s a little hard to answer without a bit more information! But usually, when the time before the wedding is devoted to getting ready, the answer is, “this is just time for me and my bridesmaids”.
