I'm bumping this. I already bought my dress, but I really wanted to try on the Starla. I wouldn't mind seeing it on a real bride.
I have an appointment later today at a bridal store that *might* have it! I will let you know.
Update: Tried it on today. The store would not let me take photos, but I didn't really like it on me anyway. I didn't love the beading, the bottom was a bit "big" and it it just didn't look right on me. Could be very pretty for a winter wedding though! The fabric was not quite as comfortable as most Maggie gowns.
hey what do you mean by "The fabric was not quite as comfortable as most Maggie gowns." was it easy to walk in the dress, is too poffy
I'm thinking of ordering this dress online, and ship it internationally to Egypt, so I would appreciate it if u elaborate more about ur appointment :)
@Maioza:
The fabric was a bit itchy, but it was much more lightweight than the other gown I like (Gracie). It was easy to walk in, but still had quite a "poof" factor. Otherwise, it looked exactly like it does on the website :)
Thanks so much for ur reply, actually I'm in a delimma confused between Starla and Amalia Carrara A3 2010 collection
ooooh... Touch choice! Both are very pretty!

I am a bit slow to respond but I recently tried on Starla and I loooooove it!! It is certainly the gown for me! I am a size 8 and it is exactly what I wanted for our winter wedding! The skirt is ruffled with tulle--most Maggie gowns are made of organza so the texture is a bit different and not as soft but I think it adds a very fairytale - esque element! The dropped waist combined with ball gown creates a lovely silhouette, very flattering but still whimsical! The bridal shop I was at also would not allow photos but I certainly suggest tracking it down in real life! I don't think the photos of the model at sotteroandmidgley do it justice! :)
This is my dress. I bought Starla in march and I can't wait for it to come in!!
I have also just bought this dress for my wedding day! i love it! ... i already had bought my bridal gown....and then saw this one, tried it on, and had to have it!! .... (my fiance was not happy....dont blame him! lol)
I got it in ivory! yours looks different to mine? you seem to have more diamonds added to it?
its gorgeous!
Yes, I tried it on with a "headband". I loved it but am still on the fence about it. It's being shipped at the end of the month so we'll see how I feel then.. I could always use it for what it was meant for.. lol!!
Don't you just love her though??
Hi ... I bought this dress for my wedding in August 2012 ... It is just as amazing as it looks in pictures & so comfortable and easy to move around in. My bridal shop wouldn't let me take pictures but I can assure you it is amazing!! I tried on about 20-30 other dresses but kept seeing Starla in magazines and would say "that has to be my dress" ... Finally a shop in my area got a sample in and I was so happy once I tried it on I knew immediately that I could stop looking!!
@Rsalazar05: it looks absolutely gorgeous on you! i love the diamond belt! you've given me and an idea! lol My dress comes in July this year! did u go for ivory or white? mines in ivory!
Ivory!! I actually saw a white one at a bridal fair today and didn't like it.. Glad we went for ivory! I'm still debating the belt! I'll let you know how I decide to wear it :-) it will be here in 2-3weeks!!!!!!
@Rsalazar05: I wasnt too keen on the white one either! it was too bright! although still nice!
When is your wedding? Im not getting married til August....i want it to hurry up! lol Mine isnt arriving until July! :-(cannot wait!!!
Oh and What hoop size are you thinking of getting? i was thinking a 4 hoop! as i want mine biggg!! lol
@Rsalazar05: where did you find the "belt" / headband that you have on in the image with this gown!? I love the look of it. The Starla is my dress for my upcoming wedding and I would LOVE to order something similar if you could give me the website/store you got yours from!! Thank you!
I just purchased this dress today in a size 10 at Glamour Closet in San Francisco; it was the only size thaty had as they only sell sample gowns at a good discount. I went to Nordstrom prior- what was I thinking? This store has it all! The gown was $300 off and the ladies were very helpful! I love love love this store and recommend it to anyone in the SF Bay Area. :) I initially wanted a Nicole Miller dress and wanted to stay on the "simple" side, but then I thought again about how I will never have the opportunity to wear a princess dress again.......so I did a 180 degree turn and am so SO so happy I did. I am wearing the dress with China Blue- Nina-Electra shoes:) Groom-check, dress, check, shoes check.....now hair/makeup!
I recently ordered the Starla for my spring 2012 wedding! Its amazing! I havent seen more than 2 brides wear it yet, probably because it just came out this spring and takes like 4 months to order it, so i expect a lot more pictures will be popping up soon maybe on sottoro and midgley's facebook page.
I never gave it a second thought while i was searching for a gown online for 8 months, I had been looking mostly at mermaid gowns. When i tried this on by chance in the bridal salon i fell in love tho! It blew me away, looked way better than mermaid gowns! I am too skinny and tall for a mermaid gown anyway, i woulda looked like a stick. Its not itchy at all, it feels amazing on, and gives me an hourglass shape, so i get the best of both worlds! I get to show off my shape with the fitted part and i also get a ballgown, it makes me feel like a princes without feeling like i'm hiding my silhouette. Whimsical and glam at the same time:)
I'm going to wear big swarovski earrings and a tennis bracelet, and a swarovski hair clip with it and wear my long brown hair down old hollywood style to glam it up even more. During our ceremony its our orthodox cultural tradition to wear a red and gold traditional looking kings crown on our heads, so i'm going to feel like royalty! The texture on the skirt is great in person, and it sparkles more in person too. It's barely long enough for me though with my heels (5'9 with 3" heels) with no petticoat, so i think im going to have to wear the least poufy crinoline with it and get shorter heels, but i think actually it looks best with something less than a two hoop petticoat regardless of height so it works out! A 3 hoop petticoat would look too extreme diva/princessy in my opinion
I LOVE this dress! I'm dying to see it on some more "real" brides. @Rsalazar05-love the extra bit of bling with the beaded belt! Is the back of this dress corset? Anyone know if it can be changed to hidden zipper w/covered buttons??
Hi gals! So I decided no belt! I ordered it from my bridal salon (belle saison austin) I found a medium peticoat to wear underneath... i wasn't crazy about the super big ones.. plus my FH would have made fun of me all night- i'm sure of it! I'm 5'8'' and my dress is super long :( I wonder if they ordered extra length? I want to wear ballerina flats! Yes, it's a corset top which I love!! the tighter the better--thats what I told my MOH who went with me to my last fiting :-)
with my new peticoat! (just a little fluff )
me and my MOH!!
This looks amazing on you! I don't think that the pictures on the Maggie site do it justice. I'm a full figured girl and I just tried on and bought this dress yesterday. I loved other dresses but this one just fit our venue with an outdoor gazebo ceremony. I also thought the shoulder strap was a little itchy but the dress was also 3 sizes too small... The dress just gives you that fairy tale feel though. I walked around the shop in it for about 20 minutes. I'm a little worried about the coverage on top so I don't have excess cleavage but I ordered the dress a little big so hopefully it will all work out. We'll see in January! Can't wait to see more pictures!
OMG that dress looks amazing on you. I have been looking at this dress for months, and I want it! I'm just curious about how much it is?
i LOVE this dress on all of you!! gorgeous!! i JUST purchased this yesterday after having already bought a dress! i just loved this one so much!!!
Ladies! If you are wearing a petticoat with the dress, what kind are you wearing? I bought a three-ring hoop and it hit me that it might be hard to sit and kneel in. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
This is my ceremony dress I bought it in May 2011, I absolutely loveeeee itttt. I need to find accessories. <3 and I love how it looks different on everyone!
if anyone would like to sell their starla dress, i am interested. I need a size 2, 4, or 6. thanks.

Hello! Has anyone tried on the "Starla" gown by Sottero and Midgley?? I really love the "Gracie", but have not tried on the Starla yet, but love it in photos. Let me know... Thanks! Also, if anyone has fallen in love with any other ball gowns with great detail in the skirt, please post.
