Oh South Africa sounds wonderful! I am jealous!

I have never been to SA but spent four months living safari-style in Kenya studying large mammals (so glamorous LOL). I guess knowing what to pack for your safari would be based on the type of trip you’re taking, whether it’s super-budget camping style or swanky, where someone is setting up nice tents and cooking for you. The basics are obviously bugspray, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, malaria pills. If you’re into animals/birds/plants it’s nice to have guide books, binoculars are handy. I liked to wear layers because I’m pale and even though it was hot out, having an old button-down to thrown on over tank tops and tees was very helpful. Another useful thing to have on hand is duct tape – something is always breaking or ripping when you’re bouncing around in those safari vehicles and duct tape is a quick fix. Oh, and I also had a quick-dry towel from REI that I looooved, very handy. If you want more details feel free to message me, but I bet you’re already planning on packing the most useful things!

Did you plan your South African honeymoon yet? My fiance and I are in the midst of planning our August trip to South Africa with a safari excursion in either Kruger National Park or Victoria Falls in Zambia. I’d love to hear your plans and chat with another South African honeymooner-to-be bee!
