We booked a Royal Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon, yay! We leave from San Juan, and go to Curacao, Aruba, Dominica, and St. Thomas. Alot of the shore excursions look like alot of fun, but we are on a very tight budget. Can anyone tell me if you can still do some of the excursions without going through the cruiseline (for less money)? We are interested in beaches, snorkeling and hiking to waterfalls for the most part, but some of the kayaking sounds good too.

Yes! You can! We always recommend that you pre-book your excursions. This way you’ll get paired with a reputable vendor, get the best exchange rate, and you’ll know that you’re not going to get closed out of something that you really want to do.
There are a couple of great companies that offer excursions to both land and cruise travelers. You don’t have to book them thru the cruiseline.

CruiseCritic.com has some great boards with lots of great reviews on vendors you can book with outside the cruise ship.
Don’t be afraid either to just go to a beach at one of the stops. Easy and cheap!
