If you are willing/able to come up to the Portland area, we rented a house out on Peaks Island for our rehearsal dinner that was *amazing* - we did a lobster bake and the house was a good fit for a relaxed dinner for about 30 guests.
My venue was also on Peaks Island - the HarborView at Jones Landing.

We looked at Arrows Restaurant and loved it. Very high end food and beautiful setting is a good fit for a smaller group.

We're not in Southern Maine or on the coast, but we are renting a stunning house in Bethel. It's called the Ski Esta. It overlooks the mountains and can sit up to 70 people in the dining room and has over 4,000 sq ft of deck space if you want to have dinner outside. Check it out.
We rented a home in cape neddick for our wedding... PM me if you want the contact info :)

These are the places I looked at:
York Harbor Reading Room (pretty expensive and some wierd rules as its a private members only club)
York Harbor Inn (nice but the room wasnt looking over the ocean)
Blue Sky (Nice but pricey)
Clay Hill Farm (Beautiful, but they only can have a certain amount of people and we surpassed that!)
Union Bluff (Nice, but just a banquet room)
The Cliff House (Beautiful, but pricey)
And I had my wedding at The Dockside. They were amazing and easy to work with. Check them out if you are looking for a place. If you PM me I can give you more info on the vendors I used and reviews for them! Also Ill can give you the link to my wedding pictures so you can see The Dockside!
I'm getting married at the Union Bluff in York. It's gorgeous and a great location.

We love southern Maine and vacation up there often. We were looking for some ideas for venues in either Ogunquit, Wells, or York though we are open to suggestions. We really wanted to rent a huge house and do a lobster bake but haven't had much luck there so are open to really any kind of venue should we decide to have the wedding in Maine.
