If we go on vacation its normally to Florida, and I always stop at the little markets off the highway with the boiled peanuts, jams, etc and buy some for us. Every once in awhile I’ll by my dad something if I see something he will really like. If we go on a vacation just the two of us with out my son I will always buy him something, but its not always necessarily a souvenir sometimes its just a gift since he didn’t get to go.. When he was really little I bought him one of the baby sharks in the glass, shark teeth, stuff like that but now that he’s older usually its a video game or a shirt I find on sale something like that.

We’re totally not…the only thing we buy when we go on vacation is a picture frame, which we then use for a picture that we took on the trip. We didn’t bring our parents back anything from Africa…I don’t really know what I could have brought back that wouldn’t  have been a real pain to travel with. We took tons of pictures and showed them to our parents, and I think they appreciated that more than any little tchotcke.

When we went on our honeymoon we tried getting things for everyone (parents, grandparents, nephew, BIL, my aunt) but for other trips we don’t really seem to get everyone something.  If it would be something that interest someone, we go for it but don’t feel obligated.

We never get anyone anything and no one ever gets us anything! We are not a big “gifting’ family. We sometimes pick something up for ourselves if we really like it but it is not a necessity.

I have a thing for fridge magnets! 🙂 I usually pick one up for myself and 2 or 3 more for friends and family when I go somewhere different.

Sometimes we do and sometimes we dont. When we went to Jamaica we bought 2 wood carvings done by a guy on the beach. One of them is really souvenir-ish – it is 2 palm trees intertwined with our names carved into it and Jamaica 2010. The other is of this rasta guy smoking a pipe. We also got a little clay ash tray and for our families we got some Jamaican coffee and jerk spice. There have been plenty of times that we have traveled and not gotten ourselves or anyone else anything. I think from now on what Im going to do is either buy a postcard and send it to home while on vacation or buy a piece of artwork (small or large) that we can put in our home.

We do the Christmas Ornament thing too!! And we normally get a magnet for the fridge too.  I have 10 nieces and nephews and Fiance has one niece, and one on the way, and we usually pick up a tshirt or something for them, but no one else.

If we do buy something, it is generally edible. Buying touristy decor items is just too risky – i’m so picky about what I display in my home that I don’t want to force stuff on people. Most true “souvenirs” are pretty tacky, so I try to not be wasteful by buying them unless they are tacky in a really awesome way 🙂

i only buy something if it’s usable/edible…i hate clutter and random objects all over the house. i usually just buy for myself and fi if he’s not with me and send postcards to everyone else.

It just depends for us. On our honeymoon, we bought stuff for ourselves and our parents, but no siblings. Oh, and we got something for our niece.

I like souveniors, Fiance does not. I usualy just get my little girl a magnet form wherever we went.

It’s funny I took my daughter to Disney in October and did not buy myself one single momento. It kinda made me sad when I got home and realized I didn’t grab myself so much as a postcard.

@CorgiTales: Could have been way worse. You could have bought one of those horrible I survived the Hawaii Tsunami shirts.
