Have a friend who has had Hep C for many years. She says that after she took this drug Sovaldi, the doctors told her she was clear of Hep. C.
Don’t know a lot about this. Passing it along, though, in the hopes it is a miracle cure.

Anonymous1063: From the maker’s website:
*In a study of 327 patients who had no prior Hep C treatments and who all received SOVALDI once daily for 12 weeks along with another oral medicine (ribavirin) and a weekly injection (peginterferon alfa), 89% of those with the most common type of Hep C (genotype 1) were cured. Cure means the Hep C virus is not detected in the blood when measured 3 months after treatment is completed.
You can see that it would be difficult for the maufacturer to claim full responisbilty for any cure, if the patients are also on other medications.

This is just one drug (of many) that can be used to treat hep C. Treatment depends on the specific type of hep C a person may have. If the virus is suppressed enough and for long enough with medication, the body is able to eradicate the virus so that one can be cured of it. This requires that a patient is strict with taking the medication every day and exactly as instructed, going in for labwork, etc.
I’m glad your friend was able to clear her body of the hep C virus.

Thanks julies1949, good point. I forgot to mention that this particular medication is never used alone to treat hep C.

What a coincidence… we were talking about this today. I work in a pharmacy lol. Glad to hear a success story!
