I got this spam in my WB inbox today. can you please help?? The usename is: luvheartgurl and she just created an account today.   "Congratulations on your special day! I am the editor for Kaptur It, a blog featuring real weddings, wedding updates and wedding news. I'm writing because we would like to feature your wedding. The first thing I'll need is a Kaptur of your wedding. Please go to the Kaptur Home Page (

[links removed, so as not to encourage the spammers]), click the start button, Kaptur your wedding and send me the link with a 200-500 word blurb about your special day. Please make it as personal and from your heart as you would like. What will make your featured story unique are the little details, such as how you met, challenges you overcame, some thoughts about certain pictures, your song, special guests who made it against the odds, fashion themes or whatever details that you feel made your wedding extra special. Once I've received your submission, I will upload it to our blog as one of our Featured Real Weddings.

Over the next few weeks, I will be choosing weddings to be featured on the home page of our Kaptur web site as well. Yours could be a great fit for a Featured Wedding on our home page.

Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have at

[links removed, so as not to encourage the spammers].

Looking forward to seeing and Featuring the Kaptur of Your Wedding.

    Warmly,

Elissa Jane MastelEditor of Kaptur It[links removed, so as not to encourage the spammers]"

I believe another Bee posted the same thing earlyer, and I'm not sure if they have determined it is spam or not.

Just to be on the safe side don't give them anything or click on anything.

i got it too - in her subject line, she also said "beautiful bridal party" so i assumed she found me because i posted a pic in the best bridal party pic thread today.

I went to the kaptur website to see what it was all about and it just looks like a wedding website, nothing crazy.  i decided to even test out what she was saying, but right away it asked me to log into facebook and then i had click that facebook app thing that says "allow" all my personal info to be seen. which of course i didn;t want to click on (same reason i don;t connect to any facebook apps).

so i wrote her back and asked aid is there any other way to upload pics other than facebook. and she replied with this:

Thanks so much for writing me. Yes, you can either add your photos via Flickr or upload them directly to Kaptur from your computer. I can't wait to see your Kaptur go live. Please email me directly at [redacted by moderators]-------- anyway, its obvious she is writing this to everyone, but it also seems possible she is trying to get her website up and going and full of featured weddings. as in harmless - who knows. i really didn't see how else to upload photos other than thru facebook though, despite her reply. i am curious to see if and how this is determined to be real spam or not.

Click on support in the left hand corner, then click on ask a question in the right hand corner, then emails, and it will allow you to post something just like you do here.

I got this message too. I submitted a support thing on it. I assume she probably saw my picture in the bridal party thread as well, since I got the PM right after I posted it.

Is it bad that I wanted to respond that I would never submit anything to a website with such bad spelling skills? lol

@PurpleUnicorn:interesting... thanks for the info. isnt it against the weddingbee rules to PM someone "advertising" your website? sounds like it might or might not be spam.. we'll just have to wait and see. i will post to the "support section" as well.

    @zippylef: lol.

i was going to pass the website to my photographer to see if she would okay with this to begin with.  Like maybe it was too low end a website that she didn't want her pics associated with or something - that's when i decided to first check out the site to see if its even legit.

@kolsen206: it probably is against the rules!

I don't think it's spam!  It seems to me that they are just a site trying to get started in the wedding/photoblog business.  Relax, people!

I did it, and even though I connected through facebook, you don't have to.  There is an option to upload photos manually (the facebook option was just way easier).

@bakerella: ok fair enough, so it's against the rules.  But I don't think it had malicious intent, they probably should have read the WB policies better, s'all.

is "Kaptur" supposed to mean Capture? Is it bad that I read it as "Cat turd" the first time I read this thread?

@Noodlelurv: any vendor sending mass unsolicited PMs to our members is considered spam, and is totally unacceptable on WB. We're here as a community for brides who want to help each other, not as a source of free advertising for businesses! I'm glad you didn't mind the message from them, but quite a few others did, which is why it's against the rules. :)

I am a representative from Kaptur and I would like to apologize that the messages you received came across as spam. This was certainly not our intention. All the couples we contacted were hand selected based on photos and amazing stories posted on the WeddingBee boards. Our outreach was for editorial purposes.

[redacted for blog advertising by moderators] We love weddings and we were sincerely elated to feature them.

Thank you for your comments with regards to the product. We have taken these into consideration and will be making improvements.

Going forward, we will refrain from contacting couples on Wedding Bee. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

@daydreamwanderer: k, i get the self-promotion thing. i guess i thought "spam" meant it was like a mass email being sent out at once, which could then lead to viruses and stuff if we clicked on the links.  which i and some other PPs did not believe to be the case.

@PurpleUnicorn: oh, I have no idea if it's a legit site or if it's some virus. Spam in this case is any mass messaging.

I'll admit that my definition comes straight from the wisdom of wikipedia alone though, haha...

"Hey, we don't allow advertisements on our boards."

"Oh we're sorry!  But here's a link to our website with our e-mail address."

    Seriously?!  FACEPALM.

@kolsen206: We have a pretty low tolerance for vendors out of line. It's a big, communal moderator pet peeve haha
