I’ve been asked by a lot of women what kind of undergarments I’ll be wearing under my dress. Some are shocked to hear that I’m not going to be wearing Spanx or any other shapewear, or a longline bra. Is it standard to wear shapewear under your wedding dress?
My dress is a corset-back with a lot of boning in the bodice, and I had bust cups sewn in to eliminate the need for a bra. When I tried on my dress after alterations, I loved it and thought it “held me in” really nicely, but now I’m second-guessing myself. Spanx could nip me in another inch or so, but I’m pretty confident that I’ll look good without it.. I hope.
Are you wearing shapewear, or just regular panties underneath like me?

danibelle: I’m pretty slim but I wanted to look my absolute best on my wedding day so shapewear was a must. Not Spanx though…I went with this one from Rago. It was amazing and surprisingly comfortable.

@danibell: I am having the same dilemma, and some are surprised that I am not going to wear a petticoat – I think it would be too hot for me!
sillysillybee: Did you order this in your true size, or did you have to go up a size? Also, did you have any problems with the thicker lines being visible through your dress at all?
Thanks for any info you can give!

sjm15: I ordered in my true size….small. If I had gone up a size it would have been too big and defeated the purpose. It’s tight and a little difficult to get on the first time but it was comfortable after a few mins. The support lines were not visible when I had my dress on and did not create any weird bulging. Just smooth and sexy.

I’m proably out of the norm here, but I just wore a pair of my dance shorts under my dress. The bodice of my dress had a lot of boning in it and they sewed in the bra, so my goal was just to be comfortable.

i also had the seamstress put in cups and im doing no shapewear Id rather be comfortable although that may be a problem since the dress is long and i feel like ill step on it a million times
