Really? I've never heard of the Assets... I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up!
Some of the Ann Taylor LOFT stores sell Assets now! And I do love them :-)
great advice! thank you so much for sharing! i'm totally heading to target tomorrow!
I second Assets! I picked some up at a Target one time when I was traveling and forgot to bring my Spanx with me. I'm a total convert now!
Might need to check this out. thank! Im a spanx addict!
Thank you for the tip- I've never tried spanx but was going to pick some up the other day because I've heard great things about them. Now I'm going to get some Assets! Do you wear them under everything? Like can you tell a difference in pretty much all your clothing?
David's Bridal sells them, too. The woman who created SPANX made them. So they have to work just as well, right? haha.
I myself have a pair of Spanx and a pair of Assets. The only difference I could find was that my Spanx have seams on the side of my body and Assets has them smack dab in the middle of my belly. So if what you are wearing isn't so clingy you can't tell the difference!
Thanks for the review I hope they have some Assets at the store for me........

yes, i'm bumping a 1 year old thread...lol...just reading some reviews tonight and looking at the options.
I just bought the Assets high waisted thigh shaper (with super tummy control, apparently) for $16 on clearance at Target. I think it's similar to what the original poster has. I find it just ok, but I've never worn shapewear before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I bought the size recommended on the package for my height and weight and it was super tiny and hard to squeeze into, but I guess that's the point. Mine has a seam down the front that is visible under very form fitting dresses and it's kind of itchy. I guess it's fine for the price.

Hello Ladies!
I am going to have to assume that someone out there has shared their love for Spanx and attempted to convert everyone here to believers.
I myself LOVE my Spanx - they are wonderfully comfortable, lightweight, keep everything in place, hide the many flaws I see in the mirror, etc. I cringe when I pay the $40+ for them, but heck, they make me feel really good and I take care of them and they last a while so why not? I know there are other like items out there, but these have to be the best because they are the original, right?
WRONG!
Yes, I love Spanx and everything they do for my figure, but in trying to tighten my belt and get my budget in order, I realized that I can't fork out $40 for new Spanx. So I checked out Assets at Target (not sure if they are sold anywhere else) and I opened up a package (yes, I'm that person in the store who opens packages to check things out). I saw the insert there and read that Assets are by one of the ladies who invented Spanx. For $20, I thought, what the heck, I can keep my panties on, try them on at home and see how they look under my dresses.
Let me tell you, save the $20 on the Spanx or buy two things of the Assets. There are a few small differences in the pair I got. The first is the "potty" hole in the bottom part - but I don't use that anyway because I happen to know that I would come out worse for trying then just taking them all the way down and pulling them back up. The other difference I noticed was that there was one seam in the back in stead of two - don't know that you need two back seams??
Anyway, the style I get goes from just under my bra in to shorts. This style is great under pants, skirts, my dresses, whatever. I wear them with light colored pants because, yes, my rear is lumpy - I'm old and over it, but I really don't want to advertise it to the world.
I haven't tried any of the other styles because I like that the one I buy does not roll down like the old school panty hose and leave that great ring around the belly effect. I know, it's super sexy, but maybe a bit too sexy for me.
So, there you have it. Not only can you look great in that super tight clingy black dress, you can save money while doing it!
