first of all I love sparkles! the one thing my FI remembers about the day we met, was that I sparkled... i NEED sparkles for my wedding, and thought what better place then in the flowers. Now to accomplish that. I had the idea, last night, and going to test it out this weekend, to spray clear coat sealer on a flower and dust it with glitter, super fine glitter, or something called diamond dust.

my hunch is that the spray will help the flower from wilting too quickly. If it works, that will save alot on the day before the wedding, when the wild flowers arrive and bouquets are being made. If the flower lasts, I can do this a few days in advance!

wish me luck, and I will let you know how it turns out.

HaHa I thought it said "sparklers" so I was really worried you were going to use a spray on your flower then but sparklers in them and light them! I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Ok, I'm better now. That sounds like a wonderful idea! I'd like to know how they turn out :)

well, the clear coat did not work so well, day two and it seems to be browning the flowers quicker than normal. I did get a tip yesterday that hairspray is suppose to preserve flowers longer. I think hairspray would also stay wet enough to sprinkle with glitter.

thisismeAXiD funny you should say that because when I mentioned having sparkles in my bouquet my FI suggested sparkelers! *LOL* we laughed so hard at the thought.

There is a kind of floral spray that we use at our shop that has sparkles in it...almost like a hairspray with glitter built in.  It works really great.  This isn't the exact brand we use, but to give you an idea, it looks like this:

You can get the glitter in a bunch of different colors too.

There are TONS of alternatives for adding sparkle to your bouquet also!

    Rhinestone/gem picks:

Sparkles and Flowers : wedding Summer Bridal Bouquet

Or wrapping the stems with jewelry, or sparkley ribbon:

    Best of luck!  :)
