It was 2am in Alabama and I just wished my wonderful fiance a good night on the phone.  I settled in and grabbed my laptop to lurk on the Wedding Bee boards.  I was happy and content reading about cheating fiances, wonderful solutions, and monster in laws when all of a sudden BANG! my freaking window rattles in the window pane.  My heart quickly accelerates to heart attack mode and my brain races to think.  Was it an intruder?  Did someone throw something at my window?  Oh my lord, is a rapist trying to break in my window?  Unconsciously, I pick my phone, drop it, then take off running to the other side of the house where my parents are asleep.  I am screaming, "Mommy Daddy" the entire way.  I, a soon to be college graduate and wife, morphed into a five year old in five frightening seconds.  My mom is waiting at the bedroom door with my dad not far behind her.   My mom grabs me and demands to know what's going on.  I scream that something hit my bedroom window.  My mom goes to peer out the dining room windows into the backyard while my fearless father goes to the backdoor.  I am paralyzed with fear and just watching.  My father comes back in with an evil grin.  He exclaims he knows what hit my window.  My mom and I demand to know what.  He laughs and says, "A Cat!"  My mom and I do not laugh but grasp our chest trying to convince our hearts to slow down and knees to stop shaking.

The moral of the story is spay and neuter your pets before you end up with a zillion cats outside your house that hit your bedroom window at 2am and scare the poop out of you.

*Disclamer:  The cats started with my neighbor getting a cat and letting it roam the neighborhood.  It had wild kittens.  Now the cats are so wild, you can't touch them.  They stay in the woods during the day but obviously come around the house at night. The neighbor should have gotten her cat spayed!*

    Sure it's not a pack of were-panthers?

Maybe it was a pack of Zombies.  Either way, I'm exhausted this morning.

lol, i thought It was going to be something much scarier. Like a pregnant mother dog jumping on your door trying to get in, or someone threw a cat at your window out of cruelty!

Your right, spay and neuter is crucial for several reasons :)

The way my window rattled it did sound like something scarier.  lol.  I'm just thankful it was only a cat.  Otherwise, I would have had a heartattack and not lived to tell the now hilarious story.

You could check with your local pet shelter whether they do Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR).

Hehe, this made me laugh. I'd be freaked out too though.

@HawaiiBamaBride: Many non-kill shelters do that now.  The cats get released back to their old neighborhoods after the procedure, since it often takes too much time and effort to socialize a stray or feral cat.  But because they will be spayed/neutered, they won't add to the overpopulation.

This is a better alternative to euthanizing them, which is what many shelters do with unadoptable cats. :-(

LOL. i didn't want to click on it, but my curiosity got the best of me.

I'm glad it was just a kitty and not a were-panther, or a pack of zombies...

@Mrs.Oat:My fearless father said they slap bugs off the window.  So I guess the kitty slapped one real hard.
