Can you purchase it as a rider on your homeowners? We actually purchased a one-day "co-insured" adder to our homeowners for our venue. It wasn't required, but we thought it was money well-spent just for the peace of mind, as it was quite inexpensive.
Suzanno:
I have USAA and they do not provide such insurance, but thanks for the suggestion.
Maybe your parents/FI's parents? I have SafeCo, FI has Farmer's; they both had the option, so I don't think it's all that rare. If you still have some time before the wedding it might be worth shopping around and considering changing insurance carriers.
C's parents' homeowners insurance already had a clause that covered us. Granted, they have really good insurance ;)
Rebecca,
Basically, WedSafe uses an actual insurance company to provide the policy. The company that provided mine refuses to write the policy with the city I am renting from as "additional insured" as the city requires. I went round and round with them until they finally cancelled my policy.
That's very strange -- I've used them (and added an additional insured) succesfully. It was really easy. Sorry it wasn't the case for you!
If this happened to me I'd try contacting Armfield, Harrison & Thomas (www.ahtins.com) Its a local company ( Virginia) that specializes in insurance and they know their stuff. I think they're competitive price wise, and they help people insure unusual stuff and make sure everything is covered under the policy you get. They'll just find you a insurance company, but they'll make sure they cover the city you need. Sounds like your situation was just out of the norm for wedsafe.
I'm sure there are other companies that do what AHT does, but you want to stay away from ones that just work with one insurance co, you want them to find what's best for you.
If your homeowner's doesn't cover, I think you're going to have to be creative.
I think the real problem may have been with the city and their legal department. It seems that the WedSafe policy did not specifically list "Additional Insured: City of Seattle". They apparently also had problems with some of the wording in the fine print. The city stated that they have had many problems with this and WedSafe stated that they have records of the past problems in regards to the City of Seattle.

I need to purchase a one day $1,000,000 liability insurance policy for my wedding and reception since it is at a park venue and we are serving alcohol.
I had a miserable experience with WedSafe.com and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for such a policy?
Thanks!
