@LincsMama:  I’m not having a special trinket because I only had two things that belonged to my Grandma, someone stole both on two different occasions. 🙁

Maybe your Mom kept her dress because she felt weird about throwing it away. That’s why I kept my first wedding dress, eventually I did throw it away.

@LincsMama:  Well, there’s no way to know if you never ask. 🙂

I will be getting a pair of earrings my grandmother gave me made into a brooch or something, and my other grandmother gave me a hair comb that I will probably wear as well. Both are still living, but one lives overseas and is 90, so it is unlikely she will be able to come to the wedding. My other grandmother lives closer but is 86 and has dementia, so it is possible she will not be there either sadly. I love the idea of honouring both of them that day, as they both are very strong women who I have been close to my whole life.

@LincsMama:  I think that’s a beautiful idea, maybe a table with their pictures and have lit candles?

I’m adding a butterfly brooch to my bouquet, in honor of my daughter who passed away. [Her nursery was entirely butterflies], my mother and I also have a tattoo of a butterfly in memory.

A friend gave my mom a guardian angel coin when she was diagnose with breast cancer. It was a nickel with an angel shape cut out of the middle, with a little prayer engraved. She carried that thing everywhere for 7 years. Even days she was extremely sick and wasn’t able to get out of bed, it was in her pajama pocket. She never went anywhere, even the kitchen, without it on her.

She is now my guardian angel, so I sewed the coin into my dress lining over my heart so she would be with my on my day. It felt like that was the best item to represent her.
