We had to exchange our travel system, and then we purchased our crib, mattress and a few other last minute things. Oh, and a dishwasher to boot! I’m most excited about the dishwasher though, because I HATE doing dishes by hand.

Congrats on your purchases! Makes it seem more real.
It’s funny that you say you’re excited about your dishwasher because we’ve used ours TWICE in the past year and prefer to wash everything by hand. 🙂

@mrstilly: yay for purchases! I would kill for a dish washer about now haha

We just recently got our dishwasher fixed (there were various objects jamming the disposal which in turn broke the dishwasher) and I’ve got to tell you, I’m like a whole new woman! Prior to having my dishwasher fixed and having to wash everything by hand, I rarely cooked because I didn’t want to have to clean. Now, I’m a cooking machine!! Fiance couldn’t be happier.

For us the dishwasher is great. We don’t have an open floorplan and our kitchen is tiny, so once the LO arrives, I’d be stuck in the kitchen just about all night cooking, then washing all the dishes by hand. This way Darling Husband can help with the dishes and I get the 30-40 minutes I’d spend washing everything to spend with my hubby and baby! Plus, I hate doing dishes so much it always makes me grouchy.
And yes, it is feeling much more real now that we’re making the final purchases and getting things washed, organized, assembled and put away.

Woohoo! Sounds like a fun day!

ditto on hating hand washing dishes…the deal in our house (growing up) was whoever cooked didn’t have to clean. I learned how to cook, & cook as well as possible, VERY quickly in order to avoid doing the dishes.
Congrats on your purchases! Can’t wait to get our travel system delivered…which one did you switch for, out of curiosity?

We switched our travel system for the Safety 1st Aerolite Sport. So far, I’m very happy with it. I’ve only been able to play with it inside, since there’s a foot of snow outside, but it’s very strudy and folds SO easily! It’s not a jogger, but that’s the only downside so far. It wasn’t too expensive, I love the carseat, and it doesn’t have some of the quirks that the Baby Trend Expedition had, like how you clip the straps on the carseat.

Glad you finally found a travel system that you like!

A dishwasher is a lifesaver! However, ours does a crappy job at washing bottles and pump parts so I’m still washing all of those by hand
