The same thing happened to me. They just threw a veil on and I said okay. It cost over $200. Honestly all veils look the same to guests unless it’s a birdcage or cathedral length. I think the veil looks great with the dress, I wouldn’t change it.

To be honest I don’t like the headpiece. Have you looked at birdcages? something like this would be stunning with the beautiful vintage feel of your dress

@SparkleBee11:  I think it looks great, but changing it should be fairly inexpensive. Luckily you want to go shorter, so can you work with the veil you already have? Maybe try contacting a seamstress and getting it shortened.

I think it’s beautiful, but if you don’t love it can you exchange it? Otherwise, you could always try to sell it and use the profit to get one you love.

If length is the only issue, that can be fixed easily. I ordered a custom length veil that I was unable to try on, and I was very nervous about the length. The bridal shop that I got my veil from said that they could easily shorten it if I found it too long. They shorten it from the top so it doesn’t interfere with the beading. They quoted me $20 to do this alteration, so definitely not expensive. My veil came in and I ended up loving the length, so I did not end up needing this alteration.

I think the veil is too simple. You could get something much better.

@SparkleBee11:  I think you should be honest with your mom and tell her you’re not crazy about the veil anymore. She wouldn’t want you wearing something you weren’t excited about.  Sell it online and buy something you do want.  I bought my veil on Etsy for $40 and loved it!

i don’t know if you’ll be able to talk yourself into loving the veil…

I think the veil is lovely!! It sits so beautifully on you and I love the simplicity of the sheer single layer. I would keep it and use it unless you honestly hated it. I think the length is great, but I am someone that thinks the longer the better with veils. It also suits your hairstyle choice perfectly

@SparkleBee11:  I’ll be honest with you. While I don’t think your veil looks bad at all it kind of hits you at an awkward place, where your dress starts to flare out. I actually don’t think it’s too long, if anything, it’s too short – a full length veil would, IMO, look better. Or you could go with something very very short, like a birdcage or flyaway veil?

Maybe the bridal salon would allow you to exchange this veil for a different one? Go there and ask them and maybe try on a bunch of different ones too to see what looks best. Invite your Mum to come along if it’s possible. Just explain to her that you’re very grateful to her for buying your veil but that you made a decision too quickly without looking at other options. I’m sure she’ll understand! Good luck 🙂

@SparkleBee11:  Oooh, a well-fitting dress may change things! And if it doesn’t and all attempts to exchange your veil fail, you can always shorten it from the top to protect the beading like someone else suggested. That should be easy enough – if you do that, you can also use the leftover tulle to wrap around the base of your bouquet and make it extra special 🙂
