I've always just dumped out my stocking and enjoyed whatever was there. In DH's house, everything that was in his stocking was always wrapped, so now he wraps what he puts in my stocking, and I put everything in his unwrapped, lol! I mean, it IS more fun to unwrap things, so I do like it, it's just not what I grew up with. What do you do?

Stocking were always unwrapped with my family.

They were also mostly silly yet useful things like hair ties, lotion, body wash, lottery tickets, candies, etc.

@bakerella: I am 50/50 .. I think unwrapping is half the fun. I will wrap the small gifts that fit in his stocking, but I always get FI his favourite chocolates and candies and put those in his stocking as well - those I wont wrap.

We don't wrap stockings.  The kids have to have something to play with (along with one or two unwrapped gifts) and we might get to sleep in alittle while longer.  I am no good at the crack of dawn.

Stockings always unwrapped for us. Actually since my mother is a school teacher we could always tell which gifts she was regifting from a student because it still had traces of wrapping paper or tape on it :)

Definitely unwrapped in our house!! I was always allowed to open my stocking before my parents got up, everything in there I could use or play with or eat. It was my parents compromise with me so they could sleep in!

wrapped!  everything is wrapped... and in my house we opened our stocking presents one by one in a round with my sisters so we could see what they got... as we got older we were able to do them all together but when we were little it was the best way for my mom to get pictures and see each of our reactions so it worked.  And surprisingly it's one of my favorite things about christmas looking back.

Unwrapped! If you're going to wrap it, might as well stick it under the tree!

ours were always unwrapped in our stocking  - but i like the idea of wrapping everything in there! i think unwrapping is half the fun of christmas.

plus i love any excuse to buy pretty wrapping paper haha - i need a mobile wrapping station like cam in modern family.

I voted "Other," because ours were sort of half and half? Lol. The bigger, less obvious stuff was wrapped, but the stuff like socks and whatever were unwrapped.

Wrapped! But that's because I wrap everything... and wrapping individually is even more fun. The only exception are small individual candies if those make it in. I'm not going to wrap individual Hershey's Kisses or something.... they're already wrapped! (On the flip side, if it's a whole bag of candies, I would totally wrap it. I have no shame.)

Stocking stuffers have always been unwrapped for me. I kinda feel like the stocking is the wrapping. Haha.

We have "santa" stocking and family stockings.  The santa ones aren't wrapped, but we'd always wrap the family ones we'd do later in the day.  But everything didn't fit in the stockings, so it was really just a stack of presents on top of the stocking!

My mom would wrap every single stocking bit.

Sometimes it got to the point where she would get a 10 pack of socks, and wrap each set. So you opened it and were like "ohh socks..." but then did it 10 times. That didn't last long.

But she will individually wrap the candy, socks, body lotion..

Unwrapped in the stocking. Ours are always so filled to the brim with small things that it would be a huge pain to unwrap them all. Besides, we always reach in and pull things out overly dramatically, so it's really funny when you hoist something up like it's the Olympic Torch and then look at it and go, "Oh boy...Q-tips!"

    @Lindsay12.31.2010: 100% agree (:

@linguo42: Hahha yeah exactly! I think the stocking is like the wrapping and we get so many random  things in ours it would be a pain to wrap them all. Plus pulling the gifts out is really fun (:

Definitely wrapped!  It's so much fun!  Candy wasn't usually wrapped unless it was in a box or some shape that would be easy to wrap.

When I was at home, my siblings and I (6 of us) had a tradition of waiting for all the siblings to get up so we could open our stockings together.  We didn't wait for Mom and Dad...which means we might have woken up our younger siblings so we could do unwrap the stockings. ;)

Wrapped. My mom would do this for us as kids, because it made Christmas morning last longer when we had tons of little things to rip open. I don't know how she did it - 3 kids and my dad. Lots of wrapping!

My husband's family doesn't wrap stockings at all, but I've made him carry on the tradition with me. So I wrap his, he wraps mine. He hates doing it but does it anyway, haha. I will definitely keep doing it once we have kids too.

Both... lol. My mom always puts in the stockings an orange (unwrapped), candy (unwrapped), and then small gifts which are wrapped.

I think last year we wrapped everything, this year we didn't bother.  Maybe when we have kids we'll wrap the "bigger" stocking things...but for us it's kinda a waste I guess.

Wrapped. But mostly because if someone has a moment of weak will and peaks they still won't know what's in there. That and it's one of the few times you get to rip through wrapping paper. Why not do it a lot? :)

I love wrapping anything that's a in a standard box or easy to wrap shape. So, I wrap boxed candies, small books, etc. in stockings. But, the small, odd-shaped studd stays unwrapped. My parents never wrapped the stuff in our stockings growing up.
