Of course. Depending on what’s being delivered and how many people are involved, I’ll normally tip either $5 or $10 per person.

Haha when I read this I thought you meant…like…UPS. I’ve never had furniture delivered but I suppose I would

Well we’ve never had furniture delivered, but we bought a new washer & dryer last year and had them delivered. And no, we didn’t tip them. It would never occur to me to tip them. I tip food delivery people, though.

ETA: I should say, we already payed $70 to have the things delivered, so tipping on top of that would have been a little much.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose:  Even if you didn’t pay a delivery charge, the company includes the delivery in the item price and the delivery guys still get paid, so it’s not like they’re working for free.

Actually I never have… and now I feel bad!!! I always tip food delivery people, it just didn’t occur to me for furniture delivery for some reason.

I’ve never tipped furniture delivery men. I always keep cold bottled water in the fridge for them, though. They almost always take one and are grateful for the cold drink.

Because of the economy my fiance worked as a furniture delivery man for about a year and a half. He told me that his regular tip was anywhere from $10 to $20 each guy. As for a tip he says it depends on what you are having delivered. If you are having a few end tables and a chair then $10 for each person is more than enough. But if you are having a bedroom set, a sectional couch or something particularly heavy I would tip them around $20. Water or treats is always gladly accepted.

Also, if there is any snow where the guys will be walking, please make sure it is a clear path. Last winter my fiance tripped on some snow and had a dresser fall on his hip. Luckily he wasn’t seriously injured but he still has pain in it sometimes.
