I had 100 guests.  Between my shower and wedding, we received ~$5,000 in money, and about ~$6,000 in gifts.

@Murphymcnasty:  I am in the same situation as you.  I am curious as well.  I’m only registering for a couple of things since I am in the South and some ppl do insist on giving actual gifts.  I was hoping to get enough in cash to go on a honeymoon since my wedding is eating away a majority of my savings.

My guest list is approximately 150-200 people.

I don’t expect any gifts.

Don’t get me wrong, who doesn’t like to get gifts? I just don’t think we’ll get any because we’ve already been living together for five years and I’m okay with that.

I don’t think we will get any (gifts/$) either since our families are spending money to come down for the wedding.

This inspired me to add up the full retail price for all of the items on our registry… $7,973. yikes. I hope people catch things on sale!

We’re inviting ~160, expecting ~120 and I’ll have one shower before the wedding. (I think my MOH is up to something, so maybe 2 showers.)

We invited 146, 82 attended. We ended up with about $4500 cash and maybe 10% gave a physical gift around the $100 range. Dh’s family lives across country and we ended up with a few $300 cheques from those that couldnt make the trip but typical was about $100/”adult” couple. And a lot of my cousins that were in the 17-25 range gave nothing or signed their parents cards.

This would also depend on the financial situation of your guests. We didn’t register, and in our culture it is customary to gift cash. I’m not comfortable disclosing exactly how much we received, but we had 170 guests and received well over 10k in cash.

All together with shower/wedding gifts and cash I would say in the upper $3,000. We had about 100 people at the wedding but lots of people who did not attend gave a gift.  I was blown away at how generious people were with gifts.  We live in Northern California as in 3-4 hours from the Oregon border.

One daughter had 120 people and received $9000.+ (3 years ago), and the other had 85 (2 years ago) and received $13,000. and a few gifts.

My friends in the South have told me they only give gifts for the shower and no wedding gift, so I hope you aren’t disappointed!
