Hi all! So Jazmynju‘s post on wedding ring traditions got me thinking- I’ve heard of women removing their engagement ring during the wedding ceremony so that the wedding ring can be place closest to the heart, and then they put the engagement ring back on. I hate the idea of not wearing my ring during the wedding ceremony, but I love the symbolism of having my husband place the ring closest to my heart.
So I thought I’d ask… what did you all do? Did you wear your ring and then readjust them after the ceremony? Or take the engagement ring off and put it back on after?

I’ve heard of putting your engagement ring on your right hand during the ceremony so that he can put your wedding band on your left hand, you then move your engagement ring from your right hand back to your left before the reception/after the ceremony! I think that’s a great idea Because then you can still be wearing your engagement ring during the ceremony since that’s important to you and you also get the symbolism of having your husband place the ring closest to your heart! that way you get both 🙂

Yup, I wore mine on my right hand during the ceremony and then switched over.

@DanceawaytheNight: I plan on leaving my Ering up in our hotel room for the night and just wear the wedding band during the reception. I’ll add the Ering on the next day!
I want the wedding band to get a night of its own!

I plan on wearing my engagement ring as I usually do (on my left hand) and during the ceremony my groom will place my wedding band over it. Right after the ceremony I will switch them. I would wear my e-ring on my right hand, but it doesn’t fit on my right hand ring finger, it only fits on my left hand! And I’m definitely not going to not wear it, so it’ll have to be switched!

I wore my ering on my left hand (I broke the knuckle on my right hand and so it’s slightly larger and I can’t wear my ring on my right hand) and DH put my wedding ring on over it. I corrected them immediately after the ceremony before we took pictures.

I planned on putting mine on my right hand but it was really hot that day and my fingers were too swollen. So I ended up leaving it on my left hand and switching it afterwards.

I wore my e-ring on my right and after the ceremony transferred it to the left. You can see my e-ring on the right as I put my husband’ s band on his finger.

@FleeSircus: booo. The guests who didn’t have a chance to see your e-ring will be so disappointed. Lol

@DanceawaytheNight: I will have FI put them all on together. The best man will hold them during the ceremony. My ring is a wrap so the e-ring sits in the middle of it without moving. Should work fine as long as I am not swollen and we can’t get it over my knuckles lol
