So I was just reading the post about names that were ruined by popularity. Since I am trying to come up with a name for my little girl, I have been reading all of the baby name posts lately. But a couple of the names I like are on the top 100 lists, so I google my name and the year I was born (think you can searchon baby center) and found that my name was number 8 that year. I barely knew anyone with my name growing up. And in highschool there was only one other person with the same name as me in my entire school.
How popular was your name the year your were born?
And did you find a lot of other kids had your name growing up?

It was the most popular name the year I was born. (Mom and dad had no idea, though) Jen’s, Jenn’s, Jenny’s and Jennifer’s everywhere! Ahh! lol One of the reasons I won’t give our baby a very popular name. Drove me nuts!

My name was also #1 the year I was born, and I know a million of them. My BFF and I actually have the same name…

Lord I hate my name
0.0200% of girls had my name the year I was born
In my entire life I’ve met only two other women with my name.
My name never appears in the personalized item section of any store.

My name was number 100 in popularity the year I was born. I know a few other girls my age with my name, but don’t know nearly as many as I know Jennifers, Ashleys, Amandas, etc.

Mine was #15, I never personally knew anyone with the same name for many years. There was maybe one other in my whole highschool? Now my cousin is marrying a girl by the same name but that’s it. It’s odd that it’s not more popular, it’s not unique or odd. Actually, one of the sex and the city characters has the name.

Apparently, my name was 82nd most popular girls’ name the year I was born (1987). I think there might have been 2 other Leah’s in my high school (~1700 students), though neither of them were in my grade.

I’ve never thought to look this up! Mine is #11 in the year I was born. My BFF and I shared the same name but she was born 2 years before.

@misspeanut: I’m an ’80s Ashley, too. My parents actually picked the name because they thought it was soooooo unique (they got the idea from Ashley Wilkes (a boy) in Gone With the Wind). Apparently my parents lived under a rock, because in my graduating class of 89 people, 9 of us were named Ashley. Fail.

@Jenn23: Darling Husband dated 3(!) Jennifer’s! Quite the popular name.
I went to school with two other girls with the same name. I don’t hear it THAT often, but its popular enough.

My name was #5 the year I was born. I don’t think my parents thought much about whether the name was popular or not. They named me after my grandmother.
