I've always wondered about this because we all seem so different, with backgrounds and varying opinions. Use anything you like: culture, religion, physical... no holds barred! How do you want bees to see you?
This is me:
I'm a 37-year old Asian-American (from Laos, naturalized when I was 12) who is chubby, works as an academic researcher (mega-nerd), and an avid reader/gardener/baker/cook. Oh, and I'm Buddhist.
Who's next?
If I had to label MYSELF?
I would say, "white, 27-year old, very traditional Catholic, educated, mid-westerner." I guess not much more than that.
I'm a 24 year old "girl next door" who is a huge nerd (just finished a book on the spread of flu and now reading one on malaria) and who LOVES to travel. I really enjoy reading, playing with our dog, and watching football. I'll take part in any athletic endevor and love adventurous activites.
I'm an adopted Canadian atheist gamer/geek with an extensive library and severe creative tendencies. I'm also a linguist, a grammar Nazi, a part-time actor/singer, and pretty much a 28 year old kid.
I'm a 26 year old, white woman from the midwest. My job involves me being a huge computer geek. When I'm not at work, I enjoy being creative with fashion and home-decorating, drinking beer, and participating in sports, such as running and tennis.
Hmm, interesting idea:) I'm a California girl: Blonde hair, blonde teeth and blue eyes. Very WASP-y family, though I'm a moderate politically and have devoted myself to yoga and lean toward Eastern religions (Buddhism/Hinduism)
I read incessantly and on every subject imaginable, from chick lit to philosophy (which is why I come off as a know-it-all at times. Okay, at all times:) Have a degree in journalism and even though I have worked as a freelance writer, I have never had a real career in my life and my resume holds the most unconventional jobs, from non-profit work to film producing.
Right now I have an ebay business but am thinking of moving back to Cali to manage/market my friend's jewelry business, which is just about to blow up. In a good way:)
You know what is going to be interesting, seeing what people put first in their descriptions. Though it may be completely innocuous, why do we see ourselves as "white" or "chubby" or "black" or "smart" or "sweet" or "29" before we see ourselves as anything else? Just thinking randomly.

I'm a 22 year old New Yorker in Vegas. I'm a huge IT nerd. I love cats, horseback riding and snowboarding. I quite enjoy art. Je parle un peu de francais. I'm also a literature geek. I love to bake and watch movies.
@heather25: I was just thinking the same thing... and I put chubby! LOL
I’m a Christian, white, conservative, California girl, control freak who loves being home and spending time with my husband and family. I enjoy running, reading everything I can get my hands on, building up my home library, experimenting in dairy free cooking and traveling.

@heather25: I think part of it is that we, in general, have a hard time putting ourselves into boxes and putting labels on who we are. It tends to be easier to start with obvious physical things like hair and skin colour.
@Aure: Heh, I just realized I put zero physical characteristics in my own description.
@heather25: yeah, that's the interesting part about this discussion...how do we all describe ourselves when we don't have predetermined specific questions or blanks to fill in? For example, while I'm "straight," I wouldn't put that in my "description." Is that either because it's more common so that's what people would assume? Or because while it's true about me, it's not how I define myself? Would a "gay" person be more likely to include that in his/her description?
I am a 31 yrd old white female. French Canadian, Portuguese. I'm 6'0 tall, slim, brown hair and brow eyes. I'm very outgoing, love to play sports, read. I have a part-time cake decorating business. I love cats/dogs (have 3 cats and 1 dog). Hmmm, let's see what else I can say... I love to eat! lol
@joy2011: very interesting.
So this question comes up in interviews and I never list characteristics. I list my history (likely because it's more appropriate and less obvious than saying I am female, brown-skinned, curly-haired, tall, curvy etc.) The aforementioned description would only fly in a stripper or hooters interview now that I read it.
I'm a white, athletically built 19 year old with brown hair, brown eyes, and terribly tiny boobs who loves baking, spending time with husband and family, shooting guns, and education. Some of my favorite things to do are work out, play various sports, and continue our pursuit of finding the best Mexican food the great state of AZ has to offer. I have the attention span of a pre-pubescent boy and am a chronic overthinker.
Oh- and I'm a Mormon.
I'm a white 23 year old, christian woman. Long brown hair, deep blue eyes, and petite build. I love reading, nature, family, God, animals, and the beauty of life. I enjoy adventures, traveling, tv shows, movies, fiction, and cuddling with FI. I live in the midwest under the wide open sky and work as an administrative assistant in an architectual firm. Love my life :) Love hearing about yours!
I'm an insecure, intellectual, freedom- fighter, Autistic children's aide, 35yr old wife and mother of three boys... who feels blessed to have found her voice and begun the sometimes difficult process of rebuilding my own life, outside of my wonderful family life. I put insecure first, b/c it finds its way into everything I do and it is so, so frustrating. I worry about what others think and feel, but am trying to find balance with that... aware is good, door-mat is not, smothering is worse!
Freedom fighter comes from having been in an abusive relationship for a decade. Any kind of oppression or labeling is out.
Add over-thinker to that. Obviously.
I am a 27 yr old mom of one, i am half italian and half mexican, i enjoy spending time with my very large family, hanging out with the same group of friends i have had since middle school, watching cheesy 80's movies and being outdoors in any way possible even though i am not really friends with nature :)
Lets see.. I'm 25, I was born in Mexico but have been in the US since I was 3 so I consider myself Mexican-American. I am a newish Christian and I am trying to find ways to get closer to my faith and be more well rounded. I am a girly girl who loves pink, red lipstick, pearls, and 50's style clothes..BUT I also love hiking and going on backpacking trips. I am a bookworm. I am a foodie. I am a people person and I love to spend time with loved ones..I am nurturing and loving.
I'm a 23 year old conservative caucasian! I live for 80's movies and music, and I adore my dog more than I should. I'm known to have diva moments, and I have a lot of daily anxiety. I'm self-conscious and extremely emotional. I love art, reading, fashion, reality tv, and I could survive off of childrens food (lunchables/pbj)!
ETA: Oh! And I'm a former Hooters girl :) BTW, they never asked physical traits in an interview...they were looking at me! They already knew ;)
@linguo42: Me either (unless someone considers age to be a "physical characteristic").
I am a very hyperactive, talkative, outgoing, emotional, sensitive woman. I'm very liberal, interested in politics, love sports and the ocean/beach. I love humor, so the more comedies (both tv shows and movies) the better! Animals are my passion. I wish I could have one million of them, but my husband has limited it to one dog, two guinea pigs and our fishies. :)
I thought my time at Hooter's was enough.
In other news, here we go.
I am a Christian who often struggles in faith and closeness to Christ. I am joining my church (been there since birth) officially this weekend though. I am a girlfriend to wonderful and very different man. I am a daughter to the most wonderful parents ever. Want them to get healthier. I am a health nut living in a slightly heavier body than I would like (I am on my Kim Kardashian way though). I am pop-culture fiend and love boards that share my interests (celebs, weddings, design, food). I am a fashion fiend that has no patience for bad tailoring or sloppy women. Sloppy men either. I am a lawyer at a big NYC firm. I enjoy the study of law and went to two pretty prestigious schools in the pursuit of my education. I am in awe of the fact that some admissions counselor thought I was good enough to actually get in. I am a lover of the black experience in the United States and a hater of the images I see of that experience today. I am a connoisseur of champagne (that should probably go to the top of the list, sorry Jesus). And I am hungry. What should I have for lunch?
Oh and I am a PROUD NEW YORKER AND A YANKEES FAN! Sorry baby (He's a Mets fan).
@heather25: Oh no, Heather, I loved everything until that last line! Yankees?! Real NYers are Mets fans! ;)
@heather25: I love introspection and a sense-of-humor... have a gourmet cheeseburger for lunch. I had one the other day and it was wonderful. I think that's what Kim eats, anyway...
I'm a young lady who is married, reserved, prim and proper, and traditional. I'm a girly girl and sparkle is my favorite color. I have pale skin, dark hair and eyes, and I'm short and voluptuous. I'm very stubborn, but also overly sensitive and emotional and I'm awesome at hiding it. I have French and Irish blood, but feel more French:)
@Aure: In your dreams dear. And definitely not in the playoffs. XO.
@jjmomma: Grilled chicken avocado. I love read meat. ROAR!
Im 23 years old pretty tall with brown hair and hazel eyes im Jewish from NJ and my nationalities are Polish Israeli and Russian although I look more Israeli. Im very creative ( make up artist and hairstylist) if sparkles and animal print were colors they would be my favorite. Im a dog lover, a shopaholic, very type A but also messy. Quiet and shy unless I know you then im pretty outgoing and fun. I dont really take nonsense from other people and have very few girlfriends I prefer to hang out with the boys more often.

@FutureMrsChaney: I used to live in Coral Springs! I went to Taravella before I went off to FSU!!!! (((hug)))
I'm new so I'd love to play...
I'm a 23 female, I am a passionate sports fan and a die-hard fan of The Patriots and Red Sox, I am a beach bum and would be content to live on a tent on the beach, I am Irish and German (and a lot of other things, but those are the strongest), I love working out and healthy food but I can't turn down a cider donut, I may look girly but I am a tomboy personality wise, shooting target practice is fun for me, I love country music and most things Southern, I am a marketing professional, I love animals, laughing, my family, and my closest friends are from high school and mostly male.
That was long, oops.
I am a very short, pear-shaped Irish-Scottish American girl. I have long brown hair, pale skin that refuses to tan, and bluish-green-gray eyes, which I consider to be my best feature... and so does DH. :)
I am a very sweet but spunky girl and I'm not afraid to speak my mind when needed. I like to think I have a lot of discretion and I'm a woman of my word. I'm also HATE getting "in trouble" or letting people down.
I'm a teacher at heart and absolutely LOVE my job! I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life. In my spare time, I bake, make candles, travel, hike, backpack, and I am learning how to target shoot.... which isn't going well because I have incredibly small hands.
I am a 22 year old from North Carolina and I am a Christian. I am a preschool teacher and I absolutely adore spending my days with 4 year olds. I am petite (barely 5') with green eyes and blonde hair, which is naturally curly but I tend to straighten it now since I chopped it off post-wedding. I am married to the love of my life and we've been together since I was 16 years old. I am a runner, even though I am super slow because I have short legs (thats my excuse anyway!) I enjoy country music, listening to the stories of the "old days" from my grandparents, pork barbecue, and saying "y'all" and "bless your heart." I suppose this makes me a little bit "country," but I prefer the term "southern belle" haha :)
Oh and I also rarely drink because I hate the taste of alcohol, but I am OBSESSED with Wallaby Darneds from Outback!

@newenglandgirl: I've never even heard of a cider donut, but it sounds good! :)
I'm Latina by marriage.
I enjoy music of all kinds and pretending to play guitar ( Im just posing in my pic)
I have a personal relationship with Christ.
I love animals ( esp horses) and family. I hate shopping and technology
I enjoy being feminine and all things domestic.
I love watching foreign films, all things comedy and reading books and newspapers.
I'm 24 and a mutt heritage wise. I'm almost 5"9 and have green eyes.
