Would you change your wedding?
lets say you plan the wedding you want and can afford based on your savings and the fact you don’t think your parents will pay for anything. If they give you money halfway through the wedding planning process, will it change your wedding plans? Or will you replenish your savings and use the money towards something else, like a house, vacation, car or other big planned-out item?

We were unexpectedly given $5000 towards our wedding next May from my mother. The money didn’t necessarily change our wedding plans, but more solidified the fact that, OK, we can actually do this without having to live in a storage unit.
If somebody else randomly gave us a large sum of money, we would probably put it towards a honeymoon, which we haven’t decided on yet.

nope. we’d just put it in a savings account for when we move cross country next year.

We were given $5,000 for our wedding last month. It just went toward current wedding expenses.

Depends how much. A little nest egg wouldn’t mae a difference, but should either of us win the lottery, there would be some significant changes.

I am very happy with our intimate wedding of 17 people which will take place outside by the lake in a beautiful B & B. Any unexpected money would go toward s a honeymoon fund since we can’t afford that right now.

I would take some to splurge on honeymoon related things, but not so much the wedding. I would put the rest in savings towards a future house…
