I love Etsy. That being said there are a lot of ‘shops’ on there with very poor quality, overpriced products. You have to be careful just like any other online purchase or even real life one, do your homework and know the value of what you are purchasing.

I have bought a few things for the wedding from there but I also make other purchases for other things we do (renfests etc) and so far I have been happy with everything I have purchased.

Hmm I only use Etsy for crafting supplies (which it’s awesome for), but I’ve only ever purchased one created item from there and I was very happy with it (from damsel in this dress).

I purchased my custom bridal jewerly off of there. For me the appeal of Etsy is that almost everything I get is custom for me and not cookie cutter.

Embroidered hankies for mom and while I know they can be customized, I feel like I’ve have seen the same “custom” cake toppers.

Dude those tie the knot bracelets look perfect. I have a bridesmaid who is allergic to all metal. Thanks!

eta: yes, I did miss the whole point of the thread. 🙂

@housebee:  Half my closet is full of Damsel in this Dress corsets and skirts! My girls will be wearing her stuff for my wedding too!

@leecy87:  I have to admit the clothes hangers with the name are not my thing. 😉

Overpriced bridal sashes/belts. Thank god a fellow bee showed me that most Etsy sellers simply buy the appliques from http://www.gloryshouse.com and sew them onto a ribbon and upcharge them times like 1000!! Seriously one Etsy seller was selling a sash (applique on ivory ribbon) for like $60 and the applique was only $15 on that website I mentioned. Never again, will I promotoe buying sashes/belts from Etsy unless you absoutely can’t find it on the other site first.

@leecy87:  It’s funny you mention the “tie the knot” bracelets, I got mine on Etsy for $1.50!! It was nice looking and no one would ever know it was so cheap!!

Lol, I just opened my own etsy shop last week! But I agree there are so many things I see on there that I immediately think– wow I could make that for so so much less $ at equal quality. I wish they would rotate the front page items more.

@Luayne:  Those will be one of the few things that will “date” my wedding. Totally overdone….but I loved mine, lol.

@littlemisst08:  If you love it then do it is how I think. It’s just not ‘me’…steampunk Victorian…deep purple dress and victorian riding hat…corsets and bustle skirts…brocade tails and top hat for FI…all deep rich colours…it just wouldn’t fit! lol
