I do the same thing! I LOVE my dress but when I look at the pictures of me in the sample -yuck.
You shouldn't cringe though! It's a gorgeous dress! And if the sample looks that great on you, you're going to look stunning!
I know exactly what you mean. In person, the dress is great, but in the photos, I am not so sure. here is a picture of me in the sample.
@corgitales- Thanks! It's 100% my FI's style way more than mine so I wonder if I chose it with that in mind.
@mimi06d- I guess we have to go by how we feel in the dress and the pictures will come out amazing!
@kmystery- That dress looks amazing. I think it's all in our heads, I don't know about you but I pictures this big over the top ballgown so when I look at it it doesn't match the picture in my head.
Oh ... me too! I doubted my dress after studying pics of myself in it. Then I went back to try it on since I was having major 2nd thoughts. I LOVED it again and felt totally reassured. BUT .... then more time had passed and I started staring at the pics again and started doubting again. If I don't love it in the pics, then will my wedding day pics come out well? Ugh!
You look absolutely gorgeous in that sample! I can imagine how beautiful you'll be in your actual dress. I completely understand how you feel, though!
OMG....you look stunning in the sample dress!!! I have NO idea what you are talking about that you don't look good?!?! You are going to look incredible in your actual dress!!
You look amazing in the dress and yes, I know exactly how you feel!! I went dress shopping this past weekend and I only tried on three dresses before I thought I found the one! We didn't have enough money to hold the dress, but as soon as I told everyone, "I found it!" I started to second guess my decision and wonder if I should shop around a bit more!!
However, the sales associates and consultants say that a lot of women think they've sold themselves short and go out in search of another "more perfect," dress just to end up right back where they started with their original pick!!
Stick with what you have! It's beautiful and if you feel as great as you say you do in it, it's perfect :-)
I feel kind of the same way. I had found a couple dresses I liked and taken pics that I liked of them. The dress I found, I bought the day of and loved it, then when I got home I wasn't sure if it looked as good as the others in the pictures (too shiny, too heavy...?)
Omg...all of you ladies look AMAZING in your dresses. Honestly, the three dresses you've posted are some of the prettiest I've seen on the bee, and they all fit you SO WELL. Please get rid of your doubts!! You look REALLY stunning.
@ksnow- You look gorgeous! I don't think the dress is too shiny at all and with the right lighting and cameras you won't see any type of shine.
I think you look fabulous in that dress. I don't understand why you think it's looks bad.
everybody here looks great and pretty... stop being so hard on yourself.... you all look awesome and beautiful <3
I love all of your dresses! I wouldn't worry about how the pic that you took of yourself came out because a lot of other factors may come into play with that (ie lighting). I would just go off of how you felt in the dress.
When I look at the stock pic of my dress it doesn't really look the same to me mainly because of the color. But I remember how I looked in it and how I felt in it so I don't regret it..
I loved my dress instantly. After ordering it, I searched online to find it, and it was hideous on the model! LOL!
I have the same problem! And I ended up with two dresses. I'm back to lovong the first one, but I see me in it and I'm like, "ew". It's tough when you love the dress, but aren't sure about how it looks on you. I'm chalking it up to the fact the dress hasn't been altered to fit me yet. Picking out all the accessories with the dress in mind, and imagining the finished product with hair and makeup done as well, has alleviated some of my doubts, but I'm still nervous about people seeing me and thinking, " That dress is SO not her." or " Pretty dress, but not real flattering on her figure".
Thanks for the lovely comments. i think that the thing i am not sure about on mine is the volume of the bottom. i have tried to edit it so it is smaller, what do you think? more importantly, do you know if it is posisble to make such alterations?
@ roxy821 i think you look absolutely stunning in your dress. i totally understand where you are coming from but i honestly think you look great.
@kymystery- I think the fullness on the bottom is perfect. You are tiny so it adds great shape to the dress.
sometimes i have remorse that i didn't pick something more sleek. i've shown the dress to my fiance and he's just like, eh. that doesn't help my feelings either. i love the dress i picked and i mainly chose it because i went to 2 bridal shops in our area and it was the only dress that felt amazing on and it was in my price range. i think that i'll feel better when it comes in and it's mine and i can alter it to fit my body.
you look amazing in that dress!!! But I do know what you mean; I had snuck some pictures of myself in my dress when I went to try it on and I hated the pictures. Luckily, I was allowed to take some good ones after we ordered the dress :)
How does one do a catcall whistle on the internet??? Roxy, you look gorgeous in the dress!
thanks Roxy821, you have made me feel much better. I hope you are feeling better about your choice. It really is gorgeous, lots of dress envy going on! :-)
Yup, same here! I liked the dress when I bought it, even liked the photos my BM snapped in secret, but after I bought the dress and the store took some official photos with their camera I didn't like it nearly as much. You can't even tell the beautiful detail on the dress (so after a while I forgot it even had it) and I look fat. But recently I went to try on the dress again, and I loved it again. Of course got so excited forgot to take photos even though I brought my camera with me :( I don't know what it is...I blame it on bad camera, bad lighting, and the fact they couldn't clip the large sample dress well on me so it looks lopsided and bulky. I think you look beautiful but if you feel the pics are not doing the dress justice it's a probably a combination of these factors.
Yes, I have the same problem. When I look at the photos of me in the sample I start to question my decision. I'm not sure how flattering it is to my shape. But I remember how the dress made me feel and and I know I made the right choice.
@kmystery ... I don't have any sewing experience, but I would assume that you'd be able to take away some of the fullness and the bottom by removing some of the crinoline. I would talk to your seamstress about it! It seems like an easy enough job! Good luck!
Dude, all three of you ladies who posted pics look better in those gowns than I could ever hope to look in mine! Please know that you look gorgeous and enjoy it. I know it's hard not to doubt yourself, but I've seen unflattering gowns and those are NOT it.

I don't have dress remorse. I love my dress and feel like a million dollars when I slip it on, however I look at a picture of myself in the sample dress and I cringe. Is this normal? Does anyone else feel this way?
Here is a picture of me in the sample dress. I ordered it in Diamond White and had the train detailed, and obv in my size. I don't have any pictures of me in my dress, just me in the sample.
