Everytime I would go through a breakup I would change my appearance (hair cut/hair color) and reorganize/redecorate my space. Both things were necessary for me to move on. It made it easier to feel like a new person if I looked like a new person, and I wouldn’t be haunted by memories if my surroundings were fresh.

@bluehydrangeas:  If you do it, donate your hair to locks of love or something like that so that even if you hate it you can tell yourself it was for a good cause.

My friend had a broken engagement and did this.  Everyone is different, but she really regretted it and it killed her confidence in a time that she really needed it.  Don’t do it!  Instead, try something a little shorter and sassy, but don’t chop it off.  If you still feel the need to go shorter, go for it!  But try a little at a time.

@bluehydrangeas:  I have done it when my hair was dyed before, but it had been a long time since I had dyed it, and it was just bleached (my “temporary” red hair dye ended up being permanent so my mom had the hairdresser bleach it out. Then two years later I donated it and the ends were technically still bleached .)

It varies based on where you donate it, but if your hair is healthy most places will take it. I’m pretty sure they don’t like dyed hair because its often damaged from being dyed too much.

I think it’s amazing to cut it and go for something really, really different….but if you have any doubt that you won’t love it, don’t do it! Maybe drastically change the colour instead.

I must say, as a bit of an aside…that I’m secretly a “short hair person” and have grown my hair out as long as it’s ever (in my life) been…..to just below my collar bones.  And seeing those twitter pictures of Miley Cyrus is making me C-R-A-Z-Y for short hair. Gah.

Why do you say that theres “No point now”? Were you growing it out for him? The wedding? Do you like your hair? If so, don’t do it. If not, how about going to a wig shop and trying on wigs ina length that you would consider cutting it to. That way you can see it before you chop.
