I thought the faux-pas thread was really fun to read…so, here’s the reverse: What are your personal style guidelines? How do you construct your go-to outfits? Do you consider your style classic, trendy, casual, high-fashion…? Do you mix it up with unusual pieces or stick to your basics?
In short, what’s your LOOK?
I almost always wear dresses – with a sweater and tights or leggings if it’s cold.
I mix neutrals like a fiend (black, brown, tan, beige, grey, navy) and incorporate trends and color with accessories…scarves, gloves, sunglasses, earrings… I also love me some vintage-y florals.
The only denim I wear is an ancient pair of cutoffs (NEVERNUDE!) that I wear with impunity no matter what time of year it is (benefit of mild southern winters)…I stopped wearing long jeans years ago.
Finally, FRYE BOOTS. I WANT ALL OF THEM. Well-made leather boots are my crack. I usually wear some version of flat, brown ones.
What about y’all?

haha. I’m not trendy or stylish enough to have a “personal look”
I would say comfy dressy classy non slutty is my look commandment. 🙂

My look commandments are pretty much all over the place.
I only wear pants that hit my heel or lower.
I don’t believe in overdoing it on jewelry. It’s one necklace, one bracelet, and one ring.
Everything should be glittery or bright, if possible.
Only one pattern with solid colors if I’m not wearing a dress.
The accessories match the shoes or compliment the shoes.
I’m pretty sure I have more that I don’t even know about, lol.

I almost always wear a cardigan with everything. Even in the peak heat of summer. I just feel naked without one! OP, where you are obsessed with good leather boots, I am obsessed with cardigans of every style.
I try to wear heels as much as I can, tall classic black pumps for work and more reasonable ones for the weekend.
Earrings!! I have a million pairs of earrings and I love them all. I never, ever leave the house without earrings on.
I tend to go for more “modern classic” looks like Banana Republic, Gap, Talbots, etc. style. Fun and modern but classic and sophisticated just the same.
I usually don’t wear bright colors, I’m more of a neutrals/navy blue/burgundy kind of gal. In the summer I throw pastel greens and blues into the mix.
I never wear pants shorter than my calf or skirts shorter than my knee. I never wear flip-flops out of the house. I never wear camis as standalone tops.
I much prefer winter clothing over summer clothing. I’m all about the layering, knits, long jeans, boots, and scarves. I hardly know how to dress myself in the summer, to be honest.
