Trying to decide what to get my girls, and having a tough time. So I’d like to know what gifts you have received as a bridesmaid that you have used again?
So far I received a Lauren Merkin clutch that is silver and I use it at every affair I go to! The other gift I received was a personalized robe, and unfortunately it has been sitting at the back of my closet taking up space since.

– Earrings, necklace and bracelet that was gifted when I was a BM = only worn the earrings once again. I think if you want ppl to wear the jewellery again, you really need to buy something that is their style and you usually can’t buy all the same jewellery for everyone and expect it to match their style.

I was a bridesmaid and the bride bought us all the same pair of gold shoes to wear w/ our BM dresses. But since she and I have similar styles she picked a pair of shoes that are so cute & I have worn them several times since 🙂

I have never gotten a gift I used after the wedding. I have so far gotten a clutch (I have never used a purse or clutch of any kind because all I carry are a wallet, keys and my phone all of which fit inmy pockets), jewlery (just wasn’t my style and I can’t wear anything that isn’t gold it turns me green or makes me itch), and a flask (I have never drank).
I think matching BM gifts, unless your girls are very similar, aren’t the best of ideas because you get that one oddball person like me who doesn’t fit the formula. If all your girls are similar in taste than that would be fine but if not I think going for individual gifts is a better idea.

To be honest I’ve never used anything I’ve received as a bridesmaid gift. The gifts that most likel will not be used again is anything gifted with the intention of wearing it for the wedding, (jewelry, hair accessories, etc) because these things most likely match the wedding and not the personal style of the girl.
I think tote bags are a good idea and would probably be used as long as they are not monogramed,(that’s too sorority for a lot of people).
I also like gifts like jewelry wraps, make up bags, makeup brush sets. Things that do not have to conform too much to specific style asthetic but are still usefull.

I’ve always gotten jewelry… And I’ve never worn it again. Sure it’s nice and it matched my dress, but none of it was my style.
One bride gave us framed photos of all of us at her bachelorette party. It’s a really cute picture and I have it on display. 🙂
I’m giving the girls a bottle of wine and a glass with their initial on it. They might not use the glass, but I’m hoping they will at least enjoy the wine! 😉

I got a Vera Bradley clutch once and I use it all the time. It’s not fancy but it’s great for everyday use.

My most recent bride got me a handmade totebag from a local craft person that I use ALL the time, a giftset from LUSH with soaps and bathbombs and a Momji doll with a note inside to say thankyou – although the doll sits on my bookshelf so I don’t USE it per se, it looks like me and was really sweet and thoughtful the soap and tote were very “me” presents because I like handmade things and soap and all the stuff from Lush was Vegan – so it was really thoughtful. The other bridesmaid got different “her” versions of the same things. I like this better than us getting identical “wedding” themed things or anything monogrammed. Super thoughtful and lovely! Another friend I was MOH for got me a Tiffany necklace designed by Frank Gehry because he designed the building where they had their reception – it was a really cool idea and although I’m not a Tiffany girl per se – it’s also very much my style, I was her only BM though so she didn’t have to worry about matching or anything.
I think it’s nice to show your girls that in having them as your bridesmaids you know them well enough to know what they will like and find them something thoughtful that shows that!

Here’s what I’ve received that I have NOT used:
-monogrammed silver bracelet
-multi-strand pearl necklace
-and another multi-strand pearl necklace, this time with gray pearls
The only gift I have used/enjoyed post-wedding is a small, framed needlepoint picture that the bride sewed for each of her (12!) BMs, with a personalized picture/design for each of us. Hm, my description makes it sound kinda funky, but they were all beautiful, and so meaningful.
I agree with the others that gifts of jewelry, and I guess all matching gifts in general, are tough, unless you go for the gift certificate route. Personally I would love to receive a gift certificate to a spa or a girly store that I wouldn’t normally take myself to….

I wear some earrings I got a ton! They were from Anne Taylor and perfect work earrings. They were beads and not super glittery.
I also got a wristlet that I use as a makeup bag in my purse.

My sister gave me a Michael Kors watch that I wear every day.

I got my girls Vera Bradley totes, and was thrilled to see one of them using theirs in a facebook album of vacation pics a few weeks later 🙂 I had filled them with flip-flops (in our wedding accent color, gold) and ivory shawls that complimented their dresses, and saw both being used at the reception.
I’ve never been a BM yet, but my husband has received a monogrammed money clip and a bottle of good whiskey. He got quite a bit more use out of the whiskey, and we ended up doing the same for our groomsmen. He actually has never used the moneyclip at all, kind of a waste.

A bridesmaid dress! The best bridesmaid gift I EVER received is the bride who bought all 4 of us our bridesmaid dresses and said “I’m not going to give you a gift that you aren’t going to use and ask you to buy a dress that you’ll never wear – so the dress is my gift to you and your gift to me is wearing it!” Only one of the 4 was sort of weird about it and she was probably glad to have the gift she was just upset that she thought she needed a 4 instead of a 6 but the bride was right she needed the 6 b/c her new improved chest size needed a 6 – she just needed it taken in around the hips. But…….thats another story. I think the worst gift was a flask – do girls ever use those?

I got a makeup bag and yes it was personalized and I use it all the time. It’s a hugh travel one so I just keep all my makeup in it. I love the bottle of wine idea!!

Thins I’ve actually liked/enjoyed: candles, Bath & Body Works products I think that something a girl can pamper herself with and unwind after it’s all over are always a hit.
I’ve never gotten any but think that luggage tags are a cute idea if you have someone who travels a lot. I have someone who is going to be reading for us that travels a lot and I’m thinking of getting her some sassy Ann Taintor Luggage Tags.
I think the key to a successful gift is choosing things for people as individuals that are in the same price range rather than getting the same thing for everyone. IMHO
