Don’t want to completely threadjack another Bee’s thread that I THOUGHT was going to be about this topic, so I’ll start a new one!!!
When you were a kid (I hope, at least, that none of us have stories that begin “so I was turning 34” …) and got a gift you didn’t want, what is the absolute most shameful reaction you’ve ever had? I’ve had a few winners, including lots of face-making at the clothing my mother would get me for Christmas, but this one takes the cake:
For my 6th-ish birthday, a friend of my parents got me a t-shirt with my favorite hockey player on it. We lived in Canada, and I was pretty into hockey at the time, and I really liked this player. Well, of course, they don’t really sell hockey t-shirts for girls, so this was a little boy’s shirt. But, it was really thoughtful of my parents’ friend to get it for me, and I was totally thankful, right? NOPE — I spiked it on the ground, screamed “THIS IS A BOY’S SHIRT!”, started to cry and ran to my bedroom and slammed the door. Like the f***ing Dalai Lama.
Of course, not long afterwards it became one of my favorite shirts.
I’m sure you’ve all been at least as bad as me … share your stories!
